Does anyone have experience using Rubber Black Dye, or another similar product? I need something for my wife's 2002 325i. The previous owner was nice enough to wax portions of the black trim around the car, while nature was trying really hard to fade it. It's not horrible, but the OTC stuff ain't working. It makes it look like new for a week, but the white wax residue comes back.

Most of you guys are using Fade 2 Black, but I don't think that's a permanent solution as well. Is it?

Here is what you need to buy:

1. P21s Total Auto Wash
2. Swissvax Wheel Brush
3. Black WOW
4. Painters Tape

Here are the steps:

1. First off you want to get all of the wax off the trim. You need to use a safe degreaser (P21s TAW) and a safe brush (Swissvax Wheel Brush). Give the trim a good spray with P21s TAW and agitate it with the Swissvax Wheel Brush.
2. Hose off the car really well, and give the car a good wash.
3. Dry the car
4. Tape off all the areas that you do not want to get the dressing on. This will help with clean-up later down the road.
5. Be generous and apply Black WOW to the trim. Let it sit for a bit on the trim and soak in.
6. Come back and wipe the excess off the trim. Repeat if necessary.

*This most likely will not be a permanent fix, but it will last for quite a long time. With repeat usage the results will become better, and better. Also don't feel as if you are wasting money on the products I have listed above for one job. These products are great for everything. Obviously the Swissvax Wheel Brush can be use for wheels, P21s TAW is great for a pre-soak to get bugs off the bumper or break dust off the wheels, and Black WOW works great on all plastics and rubbers.

Thank you for the detailed reply. If this isn't a permanent solution, than why not use a dye? Is it not recommended to use a dye? I just read some reviews on Black Wow, and everyone seemed to like it. However, like you said, it isn't a permanent solution.

I have Black-Again product(not Black Wow mind you), I think it's a dye. The problem is it won;t macth with the surrounding vinyl color so yo may have to do all of vinyl trim with it. And over time the dye fade anyway so it's been sitting on the shelf.
