They're all good. I think I like the M3 the best. To my eye, it looks the least "shopped".

I'm probably totally off-base. LOL

I think that it’s a good start but perhaps simplifying the backgrounds will improve them. I feel the rolling shots are the strongest images.

Why does it seem that new members are the one's quoting the posts with a lot of pictures? It makes it difficult to read a thread.

WOW, I appreciate the compliments. I've been shooting for quite some time now. I'd have to say around 9 years. I am still learning new things everytime i go out and shoot.

I try to keep my images as natural as possible. So i dont spend too much time photoshopping them lol.

Gear List:
Nikon D750
Sigma 24-35mm ƒ/2 ART
Sigma 35mm ƒ/1.4 ART
Sigma 50mm ƒ/1.4 ART
Nikkor 85mm ƒ/1.4 G ART
Nikkor 70-200mm ƒ/2.8 VR-1

I still need to pick up a 24-70 ƒ/2.8

I have been told before that my rolling photos are my strongest images.

I just dont think Missouri(Saint Louis) has any simple and clean backdrops. I am always on the look out tho.

Smile Hitting the road and need a camera...

I wouldn't say I'm a photography expert by any means, but I'm not a total novice either. I want to upgrade my camera for an upcoming swing through the southern U.S. My Bimmer will be featured in many photos, but I also want to photograph landscapes along the way. I especially want to try my hand at astrophotography. I've never taken photos of the stars, but am learning bit by bit and reading lots of tutorials (like https://www.photographytalk.com/astr...-for-beginners).

I have no idea what camera to get though. The article linked above discusses full frame and crop sensor cameras as being worthy choices, but doesn't really give any options beyond super expensive stuff. So, my question is, with a budget of about $1,000, what can I pick up that will be a solid camera in various situations? Even better, what can I get that allows me to purchase a lens while staying under $1,000 total??

I won't go down the Nikon/Canon debate road, but those are probably the top two consumer/pro choices. A s a friend of mine (semi-pro) always used to say, buy the glass. Don't spend the money on mega-mega-pixels; get a good camera and spend the money on a great lens. I agree.

Find a nice used camera on eBay. Decide on which brand you want to go with and stick with it (the lens are usually not interchangeable). Me personally, I felt like the build quality of the Nikon was better than the Canon when I started looking at crop sensor cameras. Since then, I've determined/decided that Canon lenses may be a bit better than Nikon, but I'm stuck with my choice, which still isn't all that bad. And I'm used to the ergonomics and functions of the brand. I've also moved to full frame, but that was driven by a need for publication, as my editor demanded bigger and sharper files.

So, find what you like and buy a one or two generation old used camera. The prices will have dropped significantly, but you won't be missing much on features. Look for something taken well care of with a reasonable shutter count.

Then get a good prime lens, like 35mm or 50mm (depending on the crop/full frame). You don't need a zoom - you have feet. You will (if you don't already have one) need a good quality tripod, for the night shots. For whatever money you have left over, buy some spare batteries, memory cards and then start looking for the next lens.

You can buy lenses used as well, or rent one before you buy to see if you really like it. However, if you are good at eBay, you can buy used and resell for what you paid (less fees) if you discover that you don't like it.

There are tons of good options out there. I used to be a canon guy by nature and have shot with all of their top tier bodies and L lenses. That being said, about 18 months ago, I made the change to Sony. Currently have a couple of their G-Master lenses and full frame bodies.

I would highly recommend you look into the a6000 series. You can find used bodies for a6000-6300 all the time for a couple hundred dollars, and some will even come with the kit lenses. If you want to do some video as well, check out the a6500. It's pricier, but is a great all around tool. I think an a6300, a 35mm prime, and maybe a wide prime would suit you just fine. Once you decide how serious you want to go, you can begin upgrading glass first and then hop into FF.

I'd have to agree with what everyone else said about your questions.
The glass(lens) is more important then the actual camera itself.

Thank you! My favorite go to lens would probably be the 70-200 2.8

Hi guys, can you help me? Are more expensive lenses better with chromatic aberrations?

I've been learning about chromatic aberrations and what causes them. But what I haven't been able to find an answer to is if aberrations are less frequent in more expensive lenses.

For example, would my Canon 18-55mm zoom lens produce more aberrations than a 35mm L lens from Canon? My assumption is that the 35mm lens would be WAY better since it's L series, but I could be wrong. I scoped out the topic in this article https://deploy**********/blog/how-de...ols-save-time/ but it doesn't explain whether lens quality has anything to do with more or fewer aberrations.

While we're on the topic of lenses, would a 35mm or 50mm prime be a better bet for my first lens (other than the kit lens)? I shoot mostly landscapes but an occasional portrait too.

More expensive lenses surely have a bit less chromatic abberations. But in general, even the expensive lenses can cause chromatic abberation. Maybe this video I found a couple of months ago will give you the answer you're looking for:
