Refinishing OEM CF splitters
I purchased my E90 335 with a few mods; 1 of them being Carbon fiber splitters for the M-sport bumper. The clear coat has seen a few rocks over the years and both are peeling in many spots.
Upon taking them off, It turns out they are Genuine BMW Carbon splitters so I'd like to refinish them. Any advice on refinishing Carbon Fiber in this shape? ![]() Sand all the clear off and re-clear? Sand the edges and bubbling part and just clear over top? carbon safe stripper and re clear? I've done lots of paint work just nothing with Carbon yet. |

You should be able to sand/peel off the remaining clear coat and then re-clear it all.
A few guys have repaired their CF parts using this procedure on M3s. I'm sure there's YouTube tutorials on this too.

That would be the ideal process, I'm just worried about sanding too much into the weave. I guess Ill just have to try and find out.
