2009 E90 options questions...
First,
Will the USA version include the black trim? (see screenshots below) Next, can you upgrade to the 18" 287 rims with the 328xi? Finally, this is the car I would like to order - what you guys think? (Space Grey, Oyster Leder, 18" wheels)

The glossy black interior trim is not available on the 2009 U.S.-spec models. I believe folks have ordered the trim pieces separately and had it installed at additional cost. The choices for U.S. sedans are light wood, dark wood, or aluminum.
The 328xi with the Sport Package will come with either the 17" 284 rims (if you opt for all-seasons) or the 17" 286 rims (if you choose the mixed tires): ![]() I imagine you may be able to order the 18" 287 wheels, but I am unsure they will treat it as an upgrade--you may have to pay full standalone price to get them. Lion,
Thanks for the reply and the helpful info! Is replacing the trim advised if i were to do a lease? Also, which 17s did you get for your sport package upgrade?

Glad I could help.
I am not certain how intrusive the interior trim change is, but I imagine it would not be advisable to swap the trim on a leased vehicle unless you're prepared to have the original trim reinstalled before turn-in. You may want to search the forums here to find out what sort of costs that would incur. The '09 328i sedan with Sport comes with the 286 rims pictured above--the same as the 328xi if the mixed-performance-tire option is chosen rather than all-weather. Here in the U.S., the 287 wheels you are looking at come included on the 335i and 335xi sedans with Sport. --LR

The best leather interior colors for Space Gray are:
Chestnut Red-Brown (like Terracotta) and Saddle Brown. Oyster is way too light. Don't like Gray Leather since the color extends to the center console and dash as well. Looks gay. Not that there is anything wrong with that... Look for colors combinations here on the home page. Saddle Brown is available in a Space Gray Coupe and Chestnut is like Terra in a Sedan. I think the BMW Germany Configurator isn't showing the 2009 Sedan anymore.... One cool option is that a Carbon Fiber Interior for the 3 Series is available in the BMW Performance Catalog and it is installed at the VPC Port. But CF trim is expensive. A Space Gray 2009 Sedan is an awesome choice. Cheers, |
