E92 factory aluminum under car chassis brace

Will the factory E92 aluminum brace work better on E90 ? This could be a cheap mod.
Would it fit?

Great Q, and a potential way for E92 Hotchkis buyers to recoup some of the cost! I for one would be most interested in picking up a lightweight alu E92 OEM brace for my E90 for cheap!

So, you do agreed that the E92 Brace is better than the brace that E90 have on.
Or, can anybody else confrim this.

Yes, this can be a modification.

You will need the following to fit:

(1) 33326784315 LEFT PUSH ROD
(1) 33326784316 RIGHT PUSH ROD
(1) 33326777637 E92 UNDER BRACE
(2) 07119906448 BOLTS

The e90 has only a rectangular plate that goes across under neath the exhaust.
The e92 has this same plate except that there are bars that connect and attach to each side of the rear subframe (number 17 in the pic below).

The problem is that the bars that attach to the subframe with the E92 (and Hotchkis) brace apparently do not clear the resonators in the OEM E90 exhaust system.

So you may not be able to use these braces on an E90 unless you change your exhaust system.

I've been thinking about this.
Do you think that the e92 bar will hit the e90 exhaust system also or just the Hotchkis bar?

i think the Hotchkis one is lower because it says it gives more clearance...so the oem e92 brace will have more chance of hitting the oem e90 exhaust

I'm not talking about it being lower.
I'm talking about the part that protrudes out on the Hotckis bar.

Look at the X part of the Hotchkis brace and compare it to the e92 brace.

Well, just look at this picture.
Look at the Hotchkis brace in the red box.
this isn't at the e92 bar.
Also, look at how the bars go on the e92 bar.
You can see that the e92 bar has different lines.

What we need is a photo of the underside of the E90 to see where the braces hit the exhaust.

Maybe you can take a pic of your car because I don't have the OEM exhaust on.

I have the E92 parts on order from Tischer. I'm planning to make them fit my E90 and will keep you all posted.

Unfortunately, the thrust rods are on "national backorder". I have no idea when I'll be able to test fit or otherwise evaluate this bargain alternative to the Hotchkis brace for E90 owners.

When did you order the thrust rods?

HP autowerks had some thrust rod sets last time I checked; maybe they still have some.

Have you installed them yet? Are you using the Hotchkis brace or the stock e92 brace? Is your exhaust stock?

Hotchkis X- Brace will not fit on the stock exhaust currently(will fit aftermarket exhaust). However there is going to be a fix in this coming week hopefully, we have a car going down to Hotchkis. We've got the X-Braces in-stock.
