What options...
Sorry, I know its been done before in various threads...but....
My last E92 had the following: Coral Leather SG Met Paint Auto Clim Comf Screen Mats Elec Seats with mem Fr Seat heating Burr Walnut Bluetooth DAB Sun Protec glass Thinking of speccing a new 320d, while the light interiors look great, I reckon just too hard to look after. So, its Coral again or Saddle? SG is also great, but....want a change...! So if its Coral or Saddle I think it has to be Black or Silver? Auto is definite C.C. Screen is good value with auto wipers and lights (imo) Mats are now std!! Whooopeee Elec seats....hmmm....now cheaper, but still £590... Seat heating - essential with leather (imo) Walnut - think I'll go poplar this time - alum trims just look cheap to me... Bluetooth - definite Sun Protec glass - again, definite - practical and looks good Want 225 wheels this time ![]() Which leaves whether or not to Nav.....???? Views/Opinions?

Some random thoughts ...
Coming from a cream interior to a black interior on my BMW, I actually find that black leather and black carpets show up dust, dirt and "bits" more than the light colours (scuffs and dirty footprints aside). If you selct Nav, make sure it is the new (and vastly improved: http://www.bimmerfile.com/2008/07/18...fficial-video/ + http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=163438 ) Hard Drive system. The functionality and features look excellent - and can suck up your tunes directly, while not iPod cavernous a nice wee feature. Also remember that the iDrive is much more than just the Nav. I use the screen every day for selecting music, displaying location, trip computer, Bluetooth etc. D.

Having just lost electic seats they are a must on my next car.
I'd also enhance the stereo to DSP/Logic7. I love M Sports in Silver (obviously). Not a huge fan of it on other versions but somehow it looks great on the M Sport - presume you're going down this route. Sun Protection Glass is great - I wish I had it. I hate wooden interiors, especially 'bright' ones, with a passions however it's your car after all!!! A sun roof it a great option too but pricey. As for Sat Nav, personally I think it's a must have for trade-in time, however it's a hell of a price, in my opinion, a very second rate system. It's nice all being integrated but a complete rip-off. The question is, will you get circa £1,800 back when you come to sell it. Definately not however if you do get the use of it then it's not all bad. If you were interested in an 'investment' then you wouldn't change cars!!! EDIT - interesting points above (posted whilst I was typing), are you talking about the new face-lift version. Yeah, I use the Nav screen all the time for other things, but think the actual Navigation system is crap and completely over priced.

Karlos - "My" E92 is/was SGraphite 320i. Currently driving BMW UK's blue 330i...oh and previous to both I had a silver E90!!
Dave - you're right about the interior with dust but, the footprints scuffs are the biggest issue with 2 kids!!!! ![]() Its having used the latest iDrive in the 330i that I'm considering it, despite the extortionate price... ![]() Roger - I always thought the same on electric seats - so much better than castrating yourself on the st. wheel every time you use the car after your wife......but its an expense that maybe is worth sacrificing to get iDrive..? Oh and yes, it will be MSport....

The iDrive / Nav does look great and I kind of wish I had it but it's sooooo expensive I decided to keep the money....
I don't think you will have used the latest iDrive yet as it's not out in the UK. Introduced with 09MY, delivery late Sept 08 to co-incide with the e90 and e91 facelift.

chrisbin, the details of the new motor are below and I think the new idrive is a must. The sat nav works on high resolution 3D mode; if you can hold off your order for a month, mine should be in and I'll post some pics up of it.
Oh, the CC screen prevents radar detectors from working; I had it on my red E46, but I have not ordered it on my new one.

I'm sure it is. This month's BMW Car magazine has a feature on the new iDrive. I'll have a read and report back.

Sorry to go O/T chrisbin, but is this months BMW magazine out then? I haven't got it yet, and I know I no longer own a BMW but they still sent me a letter telling me the 335d would require it's first service about now.
![]() As for your options list: Silver with saddle to be different, but I'd try and see one in the flesh if possible or on a BIG screen TV at the dealers. I'd sacrifice electric seats and the arse warmers (I know you guys love it, but I'm built differently), for the sat. nav. It does have quite a bit of stuff on it overall, especially compared to Porsche's for the same money. Does your wife need to drive the car. ![]() ![]() |

BMW Car magazine is an independent magazine from Unity Media: not the thing that BMW marketing send out every quarter.

![]() ![]() That's fine if your wife also likes a warm botty. But that's what you're there for surely. ![]() ![]() Seriously though it does take quite a bit of self confidence choosing colour combos I must say. |

My 325i MSport is black with coral red, I like it, I think it works well, and I've had a lot of positive comments on it.
Right now, if I were to spec again I'd probably have white with either coral or saddle. I really like the E92 in white ![]() Heated seats are a must for me, I will never have leather without them being heated. Electric seats are also now a definite for me - whenever the missus uses the car (infrequently, granted) she only uses her key, so our seat postitions etc are stored. I didn't go for Nav. Part of me wishes I did, the other part of thinks how many problems peope have had with it, crappy nav/postcode recognition etc - £200 worth of tom tom will do a better job, but you have to weigh up and put a value on the nav systems' integration in the car - as others have said, idrive is not just about nav. Bluetooth - again, some will claim is invaluable - I have a parrot kit fitted (hidden from sight) which works perfectly well, utilises voice dialing etc.

Not up on the new Idrive with the Hard-drive. I would assume it has USB slot - but if it hasn't that's a very handy option with the Idrive.
I guess you should set up a budget, and we can all go play with the Car Configurator lol |

If you're thinking about re-sale i'd say silver, black leather, and not too many options as you'll loose money on them. Maybe hi fi upgrade and USB/Ipod upgrade?
If not worried about re-sale i think white with coral or black interior looks great, and saves on £500 odd cost of metallic. Not sure how well white will be for re-sale in a few years, have a feeling it's a very now colour and won't be popular at re-sale. BMW sat nav is £2k of junk, £200 tom tom is way better. |
