Digital or analog dashboard?
I was watching a video of a YouTuber taking delivery of a 2020 Aston Martin, and it had an analog dash.
The dude in the car with him comments that's old; sort of trying to slight the new owner. "Best reply ever" He said what you think this is a Nissan? Lol This is a hand built car signed by the chief designer. So would you all prefer a modern updated slick analog gauge cluster or an iPad like Tesla for your gauges? I still prefer a clean analog gauge with nice lighting and contrast. |

Analog all the way baby. I do like the digital accessory screens on my cayennes cluster though.

I like digital but only if done right like Audi does and the new MB digital clusters are very nice as well. The BMW digital cluster is terrible, one of the worst designs of any brand.

Analog if its something i'm looking to keep. Same analogy with a Rolex vs Apple watch. A rollie is timeless, a watch with a screen will eventually be outdone with something that has a 3D or hologram...

We're in the early states of digital dashes so it makes sense to curl up our noses at them. They offer value, but right now they are focused on giving us largely the same information as analog dashes. That leaves us going "why do we need this?"...
We're going to see increased information density in automotive and the digital dash it he only way we'll be able to properly handle this increased density. In someways it will be like going from flip phones to smartphones. In the early days it seemed silly, but now you're silly if you only want a flip phone. For instance, car to car communication could have a situation where we can be seeing more accurate date about cars near us and not be limited purely to the approximations that we have now. |

My watches are analog and my cars have analog gauges and that’s the way I prefer it.

I get what your saying but I still feel the digital dash is imitating analog. When the digital dash is off it looks out of place. As an aside I still have not warmed up to Apple Watch Give me an updated analog dash and put the tech somewhere I don't have to interact with it. |

Drove the new g series 330i and absolutely hated the digital dash. I really like the blend in the f80 with the grey analog and the LEDs along with the digital lower. Proper classic with new useful tech. |

Analog. Absolutely analog. Physical stuff with permanence is nearly always preferable to me in a car. Touch buttons & configurable digital screens aren't my bag, baby.
I think I'll be driving old cars until I get something electric, and then I'll have to deal. Hopefully it will drive itself by then, and I can keep my gas toys for fun... |

I prefer analog even though my last 2 cars been digital. My 2016 Lexus IS was digital with the LFA inspired gauge cluster and my current G20 330i is digital too. You may find this odd, but I prefer seeing the needles on an analog dash move... gives me a sense that the car is actually doing something lol. The G20 gauge cluster feels really cluttered for me, not a huge fan of it.

I wouldn't mind half and half like some bmw have and other cars. But a full digitial? I don't think I would dig it that much.
And don't get me started on the no dash cars like the model 3... so dumb. |

I am fine with a digital dash (I selected it on my 2018 530e) but mine mimic analog. I dislike the backwards digital dials in the newest iteration and don't understand why BMW doesn't offer its customers an analog looking alternative (I would think just a few lines of code stolen from the 2018 software version).

https://www.pacificbmw.com/inventory...5r1c08lfh35193 I wouldn't mind this, but it would feel like a cheap version of the car since most have the live cockpit. Did anyone else know about this? I actually saw a few like this on their website, including an M340i I believe (sold recently since its not there anymore). |

Specifically for gauges: always analog.
Blue light emitting from a screen fatigues the eyes much more than a few red or white lights. An example is turning on blue light filter on your phone or monitor. Instant relief the more blue light you filter out. I’ve adopted and adapted to these filters, and until automakers implement a blue light filter for full screen digital displays, I’ll never own one. Maybe an OLED screen with a black theme to turn black pixels off, but even then I still just like the looks and 3 dimensionality of real gauges. |

The older VW dash was inspired by air traffic control. I think It was a faint red with white back lighting... |
