FS: 2004 Kawasaki STX-15F Jet Ski
I'm selling my 2004 Kawasaki STX-15F with only 28 hours. It's in perfect condition and runs like it's brand new. I already listed it on eBay Motors, but I thought I'd let the e90post community know- just in case. If you guys are interested, or know anyone who is, I'm willing to discount the price if you mention e90post. Here's the link to the sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Power...=p4506.c0.m245

I always wanted to know..
How difficult is the upkeep of a jet ski? Is there a lot of maintenance that needs to be done or is it pretty self contained as far as the body and engine are concerned? And they rate Jet Ski’s by hours and not miles? Thanks for the info..I've always wanted one, but just haven't gotten around to it.

This Jet Ski has been amazing as far as upkeep goes. I was really worried about it too because I've heard horror stories of people having lemons. The only problem I've ever had is a dead battery, but it was already 3 years old so it was expected. I've always had it serviced at the Kawasaki dealer, so I bet that has a lot to do with how reliable it still is.
As far as regular maintenance goes, since it's a 4-stroke engine, you don't have to worry about adding oil EVER- unlike the 2-strokes that burn oil as fast as gas. You always want to winterize the ski when it gets cold which means they flush it all out and make sure nothing is going to freeze inside the pipes. I always stored it at the dealer during the winter, too. When it gets warm again, they de-winterize it, which means they change the oil and get it ready to run. That's all it takes! I don't really know why they rate them by hours, but that's how they all are now. 28 hours is absolutely nothing for a 2004, so it's still practically new. By the way, this thing is a beast. Yeah, it's not supercharged, but seriously, it can and will throw you off if you don't respect it... and gravity. It handles chop really well, but is also perfect for ramping a houseboat's wake. I still love this ski, but I'm preparing to go to medical school, so I can't take it with me.
