AFE Installed.. Opinions...*updated with pics*

Got my AFE Intake from **********s today and got that sucker on. I purchased the Oiled version over the dry because I read that the oiled one flowed better. Installation took about 20 min as the stock box was a pain in the ass to get out. Once it was out though it was all clock-work. The fitment was excellent and it pretty much looks OEM! Once it was finished I took her for a run.

For those who are wondering if you can hear the turbos spool? Yup... you can hear them "whoosh-ing" its not overly loud, i heard it with the windows up but with the windows down you definitely notice them a lot more and it brought a smile to my face. I definitely noticed that she pulled a lot harder. Nothing much from the dig as it felt stock but once it hit 2000-3000 man she opened up big time. I took her up this up-hill freeway entrance ramp and my personal best stock was 100mph. I logged in 110 before I hit the freeway. 60-100mph was effortless and over-all the car has more GRUNT.

I left my camera up at my apartment but I will try to score one to get some pics and vids in. Those of you who are on the fence for an intake this is the one! I had the BMS single cone and yea, the whoosh-ing sound was louder BUT I feel this one pulls a little harder. Sometimes I felt the BMS bog down but power wise I'm happy with what the AFE is doing. Great stuff...

I'm sold on the AFE intake. Only question now is how fast can I get one and who's got the best price?

I guess that's two questions.

I just installed mine too and while the fit and looks are great, the jury is still on whether or not it is making more power than my UR CAI which I removed to install this. I still need to do more "testing" including a dyno run, but there are a couple situations where I swear the butt dyno isnt picking up quite as ferocious acceleration as I had before... Even if its a few less ponies I like the design better because I got to reinstall several stock components that were removed for the UR CAI.

Its a nice looking product. I might try out an intake again with this one. I was a bit let down with my bms single, atleast power wise so I took it out and sold it.

What is the box assembly made of - plastic?? I want to get one of these, but I have the BMW strut tower brace and it looks like the box assembly sticks up higher than the stock airbox, so I am thinking I can cut it around the brace to clear.

Thanks

Rob

Trinityauto.com or something like that had it for 319.00 after you put the coupon code AFE SO n free shiping so 319 is the total.

Please let us know the comparison of these two intakes....I am interested in this intake compared to UR's only, and only because of the ease of cleaning the filters....UR's is a PITA to get to....but if it doesn't perform better its a not brainer for me!!! UR of course!

Yeah guys just PM James - he's instructed to provide a Low Price guranteed on these, which is what you have with purchasing with us

Met with AFE on Thursday - just hearing how enthusiastic they were about the power gains was great. They've definitely made a great product - and we've got their commitment to get them all produced a lot more at a quick enough rate, the demand was overwhelming on these.
