Which exhaust mod is the safest?

There are a few mods that are available 1) The Gold Tee Mod 2) Unplugging the actuator to the vacuum line 3) Clamping the vacuum hose 4) Sticking a bb in the hose.

Which one is the safest? I was reading a DIYs and people were saying it would melt cats, screw your car up etc... I want a throatier one BUT I am not going to spend $$$ for something that will just make noise and no power..

All the gurus chime in? And yea I did a search but no definitive answer...

I would personally do a golf tee mod, but with a screw. That's actually what I did when I had my CPE exhaust. When I reverted back to stock, I just simply unscrewed the screw out with ease (as oppose to it being difficult if you use a ball suggested in the golf tee mod).

why not leave the actuator alone? Is more noise really that desireable? It doesn't affect performance at all

The difference in sound is by no means a HUGE difference. Also, yes, some people like to hear an exhaust note at partial throttle and not only when they are in boost.

Seriously. Because we know that everyone who also owns a loud M3, M5, M6, etc. are all under 20 years old. In California, it's actually a law now that if you're 21 or older, you need to own a Hybrid so you don't become deaf due to exhaust drone by the time you turn 50.

i dont understand why people plug the hose?

just bedt the damn hose and wire tie it bent, the vaccum wont go threw and the actuator wont do its job... no need to remove the hose or plug it up, or even remove wires from the trunk.... it took me 15 second on a stopwatch to do it.

did the same thing with a zip tie. it doesn't sound louder to me, but not having that damn clanking in parking lots is so worth the price of admission.

When the golf tee mod was first talked about on here i gave it a try. The only thing i noticed was the exhaust was louder only when cold during the 2 minute warm up.I didnt notice anything when driving the car at all.
