100 Octane and Lots of Timing Correction

I was previously seeing some timing corrections on 93 pump fuel and have backed off on the tune (was MHD S2+93 OCT)

I figured I would try some Sunoco 260GT 100 octane unleaded just to see

This log is with the MHD S2+95 OCT tune.

I was not expecting to see up to 12 degrees of knock retard!

I'm planning on 1 step colder plugs and a VRSF intercooler

What do you guys think?

Temps weren't high enough yet to pull timing. I personally didn't have good results running the 260gt. How much 93 was in the tank when you added the 100 and how much 100 did you add?

I always thought that most of the race fuel (high in lead) will destroy your cats and O2 sensors.....is that not the case with the Sunco?

I'm going to second resetting adaptations. Your trims are max negative. Seeing as your starting IAT was ~66 I'm guessing it is probably 50-55 out when you did this? Do you have traction control fully off? How old are your plugs and coils

Thanks for the responses

I had about 30 miles until empty and then added 7 gallons of the 100 octane

I did not reset any adaptations. Should I go ahead and reset them all, or just certain ones when changing fuels?

Ambient temperature was about 50F and this was the first pull. IAT rises pretty fast with this BMS intercooler, but like you said, the overall temps didn't get too high during this single run

Traction control and DSC were completely off

Spark Plugs and Coils are unknown. yeah... pretty basic at least on the plugs. I should know better
* I'm getting some NGK 97506 ordered before I mess around any further
* Regarding coils - what is recommended here? I'm not getting any misfire codes. Is it a good idea to replace these anyways at certain intervals? Also considering that plug/coil history was not included in the maintenance history with the car. Is there a way to validate the coils are OK?

When you say trims are max negative, can you explain what you are seeing? Would that be STFT? I'm not clear on what I should be looking at here.

Thanks!

Yes STFT is the fuel trims, negative meaning it is pulling fuel. Start with the plugs, if they don't fix it get Delphi stock replacement coils.

weehe126 curious about that statement. At what age / mileage do coils need replacing? Any other symptoms, or do they just get weak?

Just car to car on when coils need to be replaced. I replaced mine at 80k miles but didn't have any issues with them. Then one of the replacements only lasted 5k.

When I do, I reset everything except throttle and battery.
