Misfire after changing plug.
Hello all,
Today I changed a spark plug on my e93 335i (N54) and it didn't go too well. After installing the new plug I fired her up and she was clearly running on 5 cylinders. I then tried a different coil to see if that was the issue and it did not help. After, I reinstalled the old plug with the different coil with no luck, and finally reverted it entirely back to how it was with the original coil and plug. This did not seem to alleviate my issue and now I'm wondering what the hell could have gone wrong. If anyone has ideas, please let me know. I have to pick up my little bro from school at 3:15 and I really don't wanna skip all the way there. Thanks! |

What do the codes say, just missfire?
Maybe you F'ed up a wire or something. Do the coils look in good condition. Did you torque the plug properly. Were the plug gaps fine. |

I over torqued the plugs because I guess I'm too strong for the ol' 2 finger method. Put back new plug using a torque wrench and problem disappeared. Moral of story: Don't be a dumbass and torque your plugs.

If they were damaged by too much torque, they wouldn't fix themselves just by reinstalling them. Are you sure you didn't have a lose connector on a coil?? That would make more sense... |
