E90 328xi 335xi 6 Speed Manual Transmission Rear Axle Best Place to Buy?
I can't find nothing but all the sites pointing back to BMW dealership rebuilt prices and warehouse!
$500-600 EACH 33207604591 and 33207604592 Found on 328xi 6 Speed Manual and 335xi 6 Speed Auto. I ordered one from eBay and gave VIN but gave me ones for before LCI models that have much smaller hub splines Does anyone have ideas where I can get aftermarket that fits for manual car? Is this for the rear CV axles / half shafts?
Didn't know they changed from pre lci to lci, interesting. I wonder if Driveshaft specialists does cv/axles http://www.driveshaftspecialist.com/...0html/BMW.html

XDrive and xi always had bigger axles to hub splines since 2006 325xi. But other RWD 328i followed suit at LCI.
Not sure about 330i vs 330xi etc. All used same rear wheel bearing including M3, so that's a given. But for wheel hub E90 and E91 xi / xDrive have one part with E92 and E93 another part number. |

Are you looking for a set of axles? I have some off a 2008 328i that I'm selling.

The side that goes to rear diff must be 86mm. I noticed those can have different part number for repair kits. |

Looking at diff side repair kits, and hub side flanges, I think E90 LCI RWD 335i automatic shaft might work. They are $170 new for GKN at most suppliers including Turner and ECS Tuning (all probably ship from same warehouse).
01 Exch. output shaft, left LK=86MM/D=38MM 1 09/2007 33207580945 $413.51 01 Exch. output shaft, right LK=86MM/D=38MM 1 09/2007 33207580946 $413.51 I will get one shaft and see how it goes. I think the "same part number" shaft I bought from E92 LCI 335xi automatic doesn't have the correct fit for hub flange. E92 obviously have different flange for different rear wheel track. This OE part number BS for the assembly is messed up. I don't think it tells a complete picture at all. |

I am in the same predicament as you and was hoping you could tell me if this worked out for you? I can't seem to find a decently priced replacement for 33207604591. Parts store said they could order an axle for my car for $379 and the manufacturer was GKN. I didn't get the part number from them, but I am assuming it is the same part that ECS is selling for 170. Thanks a bunch, Joe |

I have a similar problem.
2006 325xi manual transmission, build date 11/2005 RealOem calls for 33207604592, for the right rear axle. Only parts I can find of that are remanufactured for $600+. I would like to get the GZN equivalent new part, which should be around $250, but can't figure out which model I need as they do not seem to make that exact replacement model. I called FCP and they could not tell me a replacement part except the remanufactured one. My care is manual, they do have a GZN replacement for the automatic, but it appears they are different for manual vs automatic. To make matters worse, I do not see actual specs listed for these parts to use to compare and try and find a substitute. Did you find a replacement part to substitute for 33207604592? |

The aftermarket hardware is typically ok, but the sealing boots are typically bad quality. If you go with an aftermarket brand, such as FEQ or A1 Cardone, I would get the OEM boot kit and reboot the CV joints. I had a A1 Cardone reman'd half shaft "fail" within 200 miles of installing it; the boot just ripped. Got the replacement under warranty but rebooted with the OEM kit and it has been fine for 10k+ miles |

I am pretty sure my right rear axle bearing is out, there is a grinding noise while driving and with the car lifted the right rear wheel rocks a little when push/pulling it, the other wheels have no play in them.
I have the bearing and new hub on order. I thought while I have the axle off I should just replace it too, car has 100,000 miles and there is moderate rust on the axel shaft and where it connects to the differential. Would it be better to just keep my stock axle than to buy a cheap one off rockauto or elsewhere? $600 for eom rebuild is kinda crazy expensive, I would do $250is for GZN but can't figure out a suitable replacement model. And even on the cheap replacement axles I am not sure they will fit, they list the same axle for both manual and automatic transmission when realoem has different parts for manual transmission. |

Bumping this thread since there is some discussion about xdrive hardware in here.
I seem to remember reading in an old thread about xdelete there is an 'upgrade' to the xdrive hardware on e9x vehicles. I wanted to ask if this upgrade came in 2008 or in 2009 with the LCI. I can see above that the half shafts are bigger for xdrive, not entirely sure why (other than possibly bmw wanting to use the same parts across multiple models). Are there any differences, including differential/transfer case/software? I can dig through realoem for half shaft and differential part numbers, but just wondering if there is a member here who knows of any differences and can describe them?

FWIW I'm in the middle of a 335 rwd swap into a 328xi wagon and am looking at suspension and rear subframes. I was going to just swap the entire rear subframe but poking around and doing some measuring with calipers the axles between the 2007 335 rwd and the 2012 328xi look the same in the rear. Part number search in FCPEuro says they're different p/n's but unless the spline is way different they measure the same to me.
I was going to swap the entire rear subframe but after investigating that the 335 rear rotors will fit the parking brakes from the 328 I'm leaning towards just swapping the diff. |
