Actually, yes it does work. I've used it for quite a while(over a year). I was surprised at how well the spot free rinse worked. You just gotta make sure you change the filter every so often.

Not for me. I tried it on my truck (NEVER on my BMWs) and all it did was leave water spots - pretty hard water here in SD. When I returned it the lady at Pep Boys told me I was not alone.....

It also eats away at your wax and finish on your car.. Very harsh chemicals which allow it to dry the way it does.

If you follow the directions exactly, then it actually does work. I didn't believe it either, but I bought one and wow.. But you need a clean filter and to follow the little steps they tell you.. and don't leave any dirty area at all on the section you are cleaning, otherwise it won't work.

Owned car for 54 weeks, 42 washes with Mr. Clean. Only 2 times was I not happy with results and that was my fault, letting too much sun hit car. I change filters a little sooner than recommendation ( 6 vice 8 washes). I already use Zymol so I know I'll wax more often than with most other waxes but I like it anyway. So I am happy with results.

I used it about 1.5 years ago and I think it was one of the first gen models. It did what it was supposed to do but the water pressure was really poor. It took a while to go over the whole car becuase of the lack of water pressure. I think they may have fixed that though w/ the later models.

I think it depends a lot on how hard your water is.

Mine tips the scales for hardness and it did not work well for me.

It worked ok for me... The first filter they give you is only good for one BRIEF rinse, so buy another one with it.

Worked for me... You gotta follow the instruction to get best result. It's a water softener I dont think there are any chemicals that eat your paint away. If I am wrong please show me an independent study that says so and I will stop using it immediately.

Basically, wet it with regular water,
Turn it to soap mode, and soap it, scrub it with something soft
Rinse soap out with regular water
Turn it to soft water and carefully rinse it out again.

I find this procedure works the best. You might get a few spots here and there but it saves you a lot of work. If you are concerned about the few spots take a wet towel to wipe it off after it has dried. I find this tool most useful during summer because I dont have a tree to wash it under with so most of the time one side of my car gets sun dried before I can get to it and you have watermarks on it. I would have to wet that side again and then dry it with towel.

If you dont trust mr clean's softener you can get portable water softener kit for 100-200 bucks. It's much better to wash your car with soften water than tap.

I have read tons of reviews about Mr.Clean from other websites when I was doing research. Every single one of them said, "Those of you saying that it doesn't work, does not know how to use it correctly".

My water is beyond hard here in SD, and it did not work. Then again, I did not follow instructions as I washed it with Zaino Z7 and then just tried the filtered water. The filtered water spray was not strong enough to repel the non-filtered water already on the car. So it did not work for me, also my car is jet black.

I went with it because I am getting microscratches on the horizontal surfaces (hood and trunk, vertical surfaces aren't noticeable.) I have tried different wash mits, 100% cotton towels, microfiber towels, and I still cannot stop them from happening. And I promise I am not scrubbing hard. Any suggestions?

Well, it doesn't suck. However, the filter is only good for a couple of washes before the spotting comes back.

For the money it's Ok, I guess.

yes it works!
the key is the filter, use filter water sparingly during rinse, so it makes 10 car washes.
I use regular unfiltered water for spot rinse and filtered soft water for the final car rinse.
The moment yu notice the water clumping into big chucks on the hood, its time to change filters

and it works great! I have Jet Black and I was amazed at how well the auto-dry feature worked. It literally took me 15 minutes to do my car. As for chemicals that damage the paint....has anyone confirmed this?
