Rather shocking increase in MPG with JB3?
Pre JB3, my brother's car would bet an average of 19 mpg or so around town/driving to work, and on long highway trips, return 27-28 average. Tank milage would typically be 285 for weeks when only driving around town, and 315 or so when doing highway trips. Post JB3, I see mid 20's average around town, and a recent average of 31 mpg on a highway trip! Right now, the car has 305 miles on the tank AND HAS A QUARTER TANK OF GAS LEFT! The computer says 88 miles left to go until empty. I mean, that's just insane milage improvement, IMHO. I wonder why it has such an impact? Seems a JB3 will pay for itself in the long run.
Just throwing some numbers out. Hope I'm not screwing this up. 12,000 miles a year driven at an average of 290 miles per tank: 41 fill ups @ 16 gallons @ $4 a gallon = $2,624 12,000 miles a year driven at an average of 330 miles per tank: 36 fill ups @ 16 gallons @ $4 a gallon = 2,304 = about $300 a year in gas savings. Payback period on JB3 purchase (not discounted for time value) = 2 years 7 months. ![]() |

i dont usually trust the car's mpg reading, in my opinion the way to do it is to fill up a full tank every time and actually record the odometer reading for every tank (until next fill up) but thats just me
![]() does JB1 or 2 have similar results ? ANyONe?

I have also seen an improvement in MPG and that is without the fuel pressures being altered.

I have realized the same thing and since i had my Jb3 Installed i filled in my car with gas twice. first time I did about 290miles done on a full tank (didnt get the idea of taking a photo of it), I used to do around 230 before. and I filled up my car again today and had done another 295mile for a tank which I have a photo of. Will keep record of my milage for the next 3-4 fill ups and see if my millage stays at the improved level

Conversely, my mpg has gone to shit with 29.2... I'm sure if a tuner can get rid of some of the "updates" in the latest progmans, it might help boost mileage back up to where it used to be.

The JB1 had good MPG but the JB2 dropped since the AtoFs were a bit richer. this is what I've seen on the dyno and I've also experienced this driving around with the JB2 for a while. When I went to the JB3, the mileage went up over JB2. Since I've tried the JB3 and the Procede V3, I believe that the JB3 is a tad better with MPG, but they are extremely close. The Custom Tuned Procede V2 that I had kicked ass over any other tune with the MPG.

If you drive it like you normally would (same amount of throttle) then you should be saving gas since the car will return less throttle since the JB3 uses a direct pedal to throttle ratio.

Can someone else please point out the humor of this because I've become to apathetic to care, but it's almost too good to pass up.

FYI my bro's car has 29.2 with the JB3, so I know what you mean with the milage getting worse (which is completely negated with JB3 from what I see). Anyway, my theory on milage tanking with 29.2 (sorry for the OT) is that we need to mash teh gas so much more to GO that we use more gas. If driven teh same (i.e. deal with the lag and have no power) then milage may have remained the same, or to BMW's claim, improved.

Eh, unless a true flash comes out, is cheap, and is proven superior (i.e. TRUE fix to 29.2 by using 27.4 as a base code, etc etc), then I could see sticking to JB3 on my brother's car forever, since it is upgradable merely by swapping out the chips. Probably no need to upgrade to a whole new unit since all four harnesses are tapped/utilized. Time will tell.

Not sure if its all the tuning but i noticed gains in MPG with the SSTT on as well. Getting around 23~25 MPG compared to 19~22 with stock.Dispite the fact i get more mileage than my 04 slow ass TL.
Cant wait to get my JB3.

i averaged around 24+ mpg to vegas this past weekends based on the miles traveled, but the comp showed only 20.2 mpg, wtf is wrong? it seems like the comp never give me an accurate numbers, i have 22k on the meter and 20k of it has been running with the Procede on, can you Procede somehow alters the readings?
