Has that been established? Elring is the OEM for M57 (and probably others BMW engines') intake manifold gaskets. I thought it was the cheap Chinese knock-offs on amazon/ebay that you have to worry about not being dimensionally correct.

You don't necessarily need to chunk all of the old original gaskets unless high mileage. I have reused the large port rectangular ones. I was also told to use the OEM ones as compared to knockoffs due to same reason that you cite (dimensionally incorrect). I pulled my intake at 38,000 miles though to inspect for CBU and clean intake manifold. I have sense pulled it again for other reason. First time i pulled, i bought all new genuine seals. 2nd time, i reused them as it was only about 13,000 miles later.
My luck of reuse is no guarantee though. It depends how old they are.
