Repairing the wiring inside the headlights

So as our cars get older, I'm sure many of you have experienced headlight issues due to wiring. Have any of you fixed the wiring yourself? Please share your experience.

I am thinking of spending a weekend putting heat shrink over the wiring inside the headlights to stop errors. I could probably source the pins from BMW. Thoughts?

Has anyone done this themselves?

I did this on a couple sets of headlights that I modified. Wasn't too bad. I used the existing pins, just slide the heat shrink over the pins and heat. I did this one at at time so I didn't put the pin back into the wrong slot.
