What to do w/out RFTs?

I'm getting rid of my stock 189s w/ the RFTs for 230s with regular, non-RFT Dunlops. For those of you who have changed wheels/tires and gone with a non-RFT, do you carry a can of Fix-A-Flat or something now? BMW also makes a "mobility kit" w/ a compressor and tire sealant (http://www.bmw-online.com/BMWRA_prod...&pl=0&h=1&em=1) Or do I just cross my fingers and use roadside assistance if I ever get a flat? What do you guys think?

i have pretty much ended up driving with my winter spare wheel in the trunk for all trips outside of city. i also carry mobility kit from BMW. don't bother me, and extra weight don't really affect fuel economy or whatever. if anything loads the arse a bit, it's always good.

I was just going to say that its basically the same as the M Mobility kit for less money.

which is (in terms of the sealant) not useable because of the TPM sensor

What exactly do you expect them to do if you have a flat and you don´t have a spare?

i carry a small air compressor (got it at Walmart) , a jack, and a tire patch kit. It've used it a couple of times with no problems.

and 2 cans of some green stuff like fix a flat and some soapy water (to find the leak). I do a lot of road trips.

This looks very similar to the one I got at Walmart. Works well for me.

One thing I've never managed to figure out, if you end up with a flat and can't get going again, and you dont have the OEM Equipment installed (RFT's), does roadside assistance still cover you for a tow to the nearest dealership?

I think I'm going with the slime compressor but .....

Note: SLiME is not recommended for use in tires mounted on chrome wheels.

Is there a sealant that is chrome wheel friendly???

Yes, they will tow you but if the workshop is closed, what good does that do you on a Friday night? How do you get around until Monday or later, if they have to order a tire and then fit you in to install it.

Way overpriced IMO.

Others just get a single cheap wheel/tire from Tire Rack. It's a gamble if you don't have a spare and your puncture is not repairable using a sealant. The spare covers you in pretty much all situations. I didn't want the extra weight and space taken up in my trunk so I rely on roadside assistance if I ever run into the worse case scenario. The sealant I have (Slime) is not suppose to damage the TPMS' and is water soluble. So you you can wash all that gunk out and still get your tire patched.

It's a gamble if you don't have a spare but it's the price you pay if you like I think run-flats suck. The ride is harsher, they don't handle as well because of their stiffer sidewalls, they make a lot of noise, they are way overpriced and most of the time if you get a flat you cannot patch it and you need to get a whole new run-flat tire anyway.

Yeah, it s a great compressor from what i can tell, but i'm affraid it's not going to fit into that little 7x7x5 compartment under the mat in the trunk

Slime compresors, however are small enough to fit there, but are they good enough to do the task?

Anyone used Slime compresors, particularly small ones?
Any success?

P.S. My ultimate roadside kit is:
1. BMW extended kit (Scissors-type jack, Torque wrench fixed at 130 Nm, Folding wedge sheel chock, gloves, etc)
2. Compact portable air compressor (still desiding which one to get)
3. Patch kit to plugg the tire
