Code 2F8B car won't start
My car is a 2011 335i n55 with 75k. Recently gotten new coils in past 1k miles.
Has anyone ever gotten the code 2F8B - Relay, ignition and injectors, supply voltage, ignition: short circuit to ground. Was driving through my apartments parking going to park and the car just died. Tried to restart and the car won't. The starter will turn the motor over but will not start. I got an rpm signal on the dash but no intermittent fires like it is trying to start. FYI I am still on original fuel pump as far as I know. Anyone else experienced this and any suggestions? |

Ignition, voltage supply: Line disconnection or
short circuit to earth -Check fuse - Inspect wiring harness between overload- protection relay for ignition and injection, and DME - Replace overload-protection relay for ignition and injection - Replace DME Fuse is F01 20A located- https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...i-cou/GImPxeab Last edited by TunafishE93; 02-25-2020 at 09:29 PM.. |

2F8B | Relay, ignition and injectors, supply voltage, ignition: Short circuit to ground | mevd17kw http://www.bmwfault.codes/XMLDiagVie...A1ADQANQAwADQA Here is the TIS circuit diagram showing the "Relay for Ignition & Fuel Injection" (K6341) which powers TWO fuses, F01 & F02. The Locations of those components is shown in the second/third "Installation Location" Links: https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...upply/CkOkr85a https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...ction/GIa14aVV https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...-fuse/GImPxeab I would test for voltage at each fuse F01 & F02, and trace up to the relay and power supply to the relay. Either the Relay itself, or its wiring/connectors are likely causing NO power to the DME for Coils & Injectors. Please let us know what you find, George |

Thank you everyone. So I tore apart the cowel and everything to get to that relay box on the passenger side of the engine bay. Turns out that, yes the F01 20A fuse was blown. Replaced it and painstakingly put the cowl pieces back together and it started right up. Initially idled a little weird but it settled out to normal.
Now I just need to find out what caused this fuse to blow! Could a dying battery cause this? |

Sometimes fuses just fail, That's why most manufacturers put spare fuses in the fuse box. I wouldn't worry too much about it unless it happens again.
Then inspect wiring harness between overload- protection relay for ignition and injection, and DME. It is K6341 (relay) to A6000 (DME) in link. You can click on each item and it will show you where its located. https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e...-fuse/CkEQm8az |
