I call some BS on this, in all my nice cars I drive like an old lady going to church with a tray of lasagna in the back, yes some fun with em but on clear roads early in the morning or late late at night. My work truck is just that (ordinary) I'm more aggressive in that The night and day difference in drivers in expensive cars are enthusiasts will fist fight about the type of oil to use, how to properly hand wash and pay $500 a month for off site parking because in the south end of Boston having a garage is big pimpin |

I'd like to think I'm in the below category. But who knows, maybe that's my narcissistic side speaking to me?
"People with this type of personality are, as a rule, respectable, ambitious, reliable and well-organised," the statement said. "They take care of themselves and their health and often perform well at work."

So, in summary: People who buy flashy cars have all kinds of personalities. Ok thanks, got it.

So, the lack of the 'agreeableness' personality trait causes both increased salary and increased confidence on the road... and the result is what's described. But that doesn't mean that these 'jerks' aren't also conscientious. These are compatible personality traits and their description of the latter trait is limited to the definition of conscientious = nice/friendly (or meek!).
This study seemed too limited to cars vs. pedestrians as well. If you've ever driven/lived in a city with a ton of pedestrians you'd know how frustrating it is to get through a train of pedestrians crossing at a stop sign—especially if you're waiting behind another driver in front of you who lacks confidence (or they don't want to offend some pedestrians by denying them their right of way). The term 'conscientious' is the incorrect term to describe this. At some point, the cars need to move. Without "jerks", we'd be at gridlock. Further, some people certainly don't know how to drive with enough confidence to be 'conscientious' to other drivers. There's a balance. What about the dummies in the Corollas parked in the passing lane? My mind always points to them as "low level thinkers" who may be agreeable, but at the same time they may not be intelligent enough to be conscientious enough to understand how to best move traffic safely and efficiently. This person comes off as ignorant, but it's usually obliviousness. Can't believe that this is what CNN's talking about these days. |

"The answers were unambiguous: self-centred men who are argumentative, stubborn, disagreeable and unempathetic are much more likely to own a high-status car such as an Audi, BMW or Mercedes," the press release states.
Sounds pretty close to my wife's description of me, so I guess I fit the bill. And to think I waited all these years to buy my first BMW, if I had only known... |

Not his political beliefs but the way he ate. So many of our politicians live in a bubble, I like people that know how a Costco hot dog and soda with my wife counts as a date meal when we're shopping for our Miller clan home needs, every day stuff most of these political people are clueless about. Yes give welfare yes help but do not make it a way of life, teach em to fish don't give it to them on a platter, now I'm banned on this bimmer app because it just got political That Time John Kerry Ordered a Cheesesteak "With Swiss" He looked like an alien trying people food |

With great power comes great temptation to use it. Applies to sports car drivers and politicians alike. That right there alone is why some slower cars perceive faster cars as jerks.
And then some in faster cars look at the rear view mirror and think “Objects in mirror are losing” And that’s the flip side of that coin |

That source directly from a socialist. Its not the car they are targeting but a successful capitalist. The expensive car is just a side effect. You could take out car and put in luxury watch, big home, boat, etc... Anything that is a byproduct of being a successful capitalist is their target. This fraud study has been debunked on other forums.
I am sorry they are so pissed off with their life and need to try to shame others that are successful and happy. Consider the network source and who funded the study. Just let it fade away into digital smoke. Last edited by MystroX5; 02-26-2020 at 02:51 PM.. |

Well Duh,
If you being catapulted, in a steel enclosure, with 400hp right under your big toe, of course it's going to make you more self-assured on the streets and allowing you to move about with brute force.. I don't try be arrogant on the road but get out my way, peasants; I got things to do and bought a capable tool, to get it done; efficiently. |

You guys have to realize that posting on a BMW forum makes you the minority. Just because you all drive carefully means nothing. The vast majority of people buying Mercedes, BMW, and Audi do it for the badge so they can flex on Instagram or show their neighbors how rich they are. There's nothing we can do about it unfortunately :
