How are you passing time and staying entertained during the pandemic?

Figured I would post what I am doing in spite of all the hysteria to brighten the world.

Ordered a Pizza from my local pizza place who could probably use the business and going to give the driver a nice tip

Just cut loose my concrete guy to redo my front walk and driveway, he appreciated the business

Bought a few stocks as most are undervalued and I figured the market could use it

Watched a few YouTube videos with my dog who appreciated me petting him whilst watching

Tomorrow I will probably go to Home Depot to get hardware to hang a sunshade over my pool in the back.

What are y'all doing?

I'm meeting up with someone later tonight, currently sitting in my apartment enjoying the spring break that started today.

Can't wait to grab dinner shortly! (if I stop being lazy)

I will admit to stockpiling for the impending zombie apocalypse... bought plenty wine, a couple bottles of scotch and cigars to go with the shotgun shells I bought earlier!

Went to dinner tonight with Wifey to a local place. It was packed, mostly with older folks. Virus? What virus?

Good fish and chips, though. And a couple of IPAs. Almost normal life.

That said, when we walked in the teenage hostess tried to sit us in a dungeon way back in a corner next to large table with a huge family and a screaming infant. It was all I could do not to tear into this ditz and ask her WTF she was thinking sitting us back there when there were multiple tables open by the windows out front. But I realize they're following some pre-planned seating chart that tells them where to sit the next customer regardless of any other considerations. When I told her I wasn't sitting next to a screaming kid and suggested we sit at the window table out front, she instantly relented and sat us there. So all was good.

My lovely bride and I are staying in tonight, not that we'd have an issue with going out but Fridays are usually a dip in the hot tub with a cocktail. That's done, now she is putting the finishing touches on homemade pizza, sautéed onions, brie cheese, figs and arugula.....tasty as fuck and the pizza is pretty fine too. Ya'all have a great weekend and wash your hands. Peace out my fellow car enthusiasts.

I did too, and today my city said they might go in full DEFCON 5, banning all alcohol sales and bars so on top of food I also had to stockpile beers and liquor

To quote from local news:

The City of [Pickle's Town], [Midwest] will hold an Emergency Meeting this morning to pass an Ordinance related to the “Emergency Created by the Impact of the COVID-19 Virus” – better known as the “Coronavirus” or the “Wuhan Virus.”

The City proposes to grant extraordinary powers to the Mayor, which include (starting on page 8 of the below pdf):

Violating parts of the Open Meetings Act
Ban sale of firearms and ammunition
Ban sale of any alcohol
Closing of all bars, taverns, liquor stores, etc
Ban sale or giving away of gasoline or other liquid flammable or combustible products in any container other than a gasoline tank permanently fixed to a motor vehicle
Direct the shutoff of power, water, gas, etc
Take possession of private property and obtain full title to same
Prohibit or restrict ingress and egress to and from the City"

Isn't this a bit excessive or is it just me? It feels like we're going to war lol I'm more concerned about the ordinance passing unanimously than the actual virus now

There would be a revolt here in Texas if they put a lockdown on beer, bars and Mexican restaurants. Went to lunch at my local Mexican restaurant today and there was still a wait like always...lol

Signed a big telemedicine contract Wednesday.

Met new girl at my attorney's office yesterday. She worked there about 13 or 14 years ago and had on these stretch pants that left nothing to the imagination. I was so distracted that I left all of my paperwork at the office. Flirted a bit, got her number and took her out for wine and horsedouvers () after we left the office. We are going out again next week.

My attorney said he was going to ban me from the office.

Staying in tonight. Wedding for a good friend tomorrow then going out afterwards.

I hope you're stocked up.

This is stupid. So China is what everyone is baseing the fatality rate from. Which is not a great bases for projections. Yes, this virus has a higher fatality rate than the common flu which is about .1%, estimates and I suspect they are on the high side are the Covid19 is about .5%. But most folks who have had it report very minor symptoms. This could hit long term care faculties and nursing homes hard but we are losing our minds here. Perspective people. Maybe I'm wrong, but I suspect the panic is over the top....Cheers.
