Optimum Tire Size for 18.5 Wheels
I have 18x8.5 VMR V710s on my e92 328xi with 225/40/18 tires (square setup). Would I gain any benefit from using wider tires on the rear such as 255/35/18 or wider all around? Seems like 225 is a bit narrow for these wheels.
I bought the car recently and it has almost new Michelin PSS tires so wont be replacing for a while but would like to know for future reference. |

255/35/18 square is pretty popular. Overall, you'll just have more grip.

Thanks - that's what I figured, but wasn't sure if there is an advantage to having narrower tires in the front despite having the wheel width to accommodate a wider tire. Sounds like that's a no.

Opposite actually, the cars understeer a lot from factory like every car, and running wider rears just exacerbate that.
