Interior Trim Painting Piano/Gloss Black
Hello All,
I bought used wooden trim set for $140 and wanted to paint like Piano black. This is my first time painting, I read lot of posts before I attempted to sand, paint, compound, polish etc The work is in progress and I will post more pics and final results later. ![]() Last edited by MEN54; 04-12-2020 at 11:30 PM.. |

Thanks, that piece is still not finished, I have to wet it to remove orange peel and then compound and polish then apply clear coat, then wet sand clear coats as well then compound polish and that's it

So when I ceramic coated my wheels I didn't notice any dulling of the finish, but definitely coat a small piece first, just in case. Technically I'd start small and work to the biggest piece. Just Incase one fails you aren't refinishing the biggest piece.

two rears are done, what do you guys think. i see some very light orange peel which i am fine with but i will make front pieces more flatten before compounding and polishing them since they will be in my eyes while driving.

Ran into issue with other pieces,so i was doing all other pieces together. i guess i will take one piece at a time.
issue was sanding around the ends of trim was actually and eventually removing the paint off. re-doing it now i will post my mistakes as well so you guys can learn. ![]() Last edited by MEN54; 05-01-2020 at 12:12 PM.. |

I had to start over about 3 times strip paint and primer etc I found it was every time I sprayed the clear coat that's when it went to crap. ended up just primer and gloss black and looked much better. ill get some photos during the day and post them up.

Because you have to polish the clear coat!
