Top cop

So many stories of folks here having bad experiences with the local constabularly. But here's a different take.
The scene: A four-way stop on Carlaw Ave. in Toronto. You can't go straight, you can't turn left. You can only right and drivers have a habit of barely stopping. Cops know this, which is why there was one waiting for me as I motored through on a pleasant afternoon this week.
He motioned me to pull over and informed me of my discretion. I apologized and provided all the appropriate paperwork, expecting the worst.
"For some reason, I'm in a good mood today and I'm going to let you off with a caution ... a stern caution," he began. "A moving violation carries a $110 fine and three points and I'm sure you pay enough in insurance in a car like this without having that on your plate."
I agree and thank him, ready to continue.
Long pause.
Finally, he says "What year?"
I clue in that he's talking about the car.
"08," I reply.
He nods.
"You like it?"
"Best car I've ever had."
He nods again.
"I think this is my favourite car," he says.
Another pause.
"What, about 65?"
I clue in that he's talking price.
"Well, they start in the low 50s but by the time you put on some extras you're at 60."
"I'm a cop. I can't afford it."
"Neither can I," I laugh. "But you gotta pay for your thrills."
Another pause.
He leans in to get a peak at the interior.
"Well, maybe I can pick up a used one."
"You can't go wrong," I said.
He finally moves back, telling me to come to a complete stop next time.
I drive off, noticing him in my mirror watching me drive away.

It occasionally happens.....although, not very often. I am the one who bitched n complained about the cop hearing my turbos spooling not too long ago and even I can admit that I've been in situations where I should have had my lisence taken away yet I was let go with a warning as well. Nice to here your RARE experience went well! Cheers

I had a similar experience when i had a black e46.
Cop said i was in a right turning lane only and didn't turn, on Dundas next to the AGO.
He said he liked the car, and mentioned his wife had one too.
He was nice enough,
but wasn't in so forgiving, still got a ticket, but was dismissed in court because the court was postponed once already andy they wanted to postpone again.

your experience is the exception rather than the norm. if he had been in a "bad" mood, maybe he would have pulled you from the car and beat your ass, Rodney King style. the police are (for the most part) jerks to motorists.

lol, this reminds me of a similar situation my buddy was in last week

so last weekend me and my frd were heading to meet some friends. He was riding a Honda CBR and he decides to show off to me and my other friends in another car by doing some wheelies and the road and reving it real hard (he's got an aftermarket exhaust that's so loud it hurts when he does a fly-by). So after the second or third wheelie, the SUV behind us turned on his lights and I thought "Damn LMAO, he is game over!".

My friend meets us at our destination about 30mins later and tells us that the cop didn't give him anything. Instead, he told him that his bike was really nice and then they went on to share about riding experiences lol.
