MHD DME Error Codes

I flashed stage 2+ onto my 2007 335i with full bult ons, VRSF 5" intercooler, downpipes, chargepipe & tial BOV along with Afe DCI'.s After flashing I went around and did some pulls and it would break up. Took it home, flashed back to stage 0. After driving around for a day on stage 0 with no issues I Flashed stage 2+ again and attempted to do a pull because the car was already warm from being driven on stage 0 and was now running great on stage 2+. After going through 1st and 2nd gear, a huge cloud of white smoke erupted out the exhaust when I let off the gas. I pulled into the driveway and it sounded awful. Engine was shaking, whole car was shaking etc. It has been running rough since. We flashed stage 0 map and now are experiencing the following codes :
29 CC
29D0
29D1
29D2
30BB
The CEL is also flashing. Any help would be appreciated.

You have multiple misfires on several cylinders,

Have you had plugs and coils replaced?

Walnut blasting done?

30BB is DME failure, could be injector or mosfet related...

Walnut blasting spark plugs injectors coils all done within the last 15-20k miles. If it is the DME after all, any suggestions on who I could ship it to to have them repair it? I do not trust myself.

Additionally, car seemed to run smooth when it was revd to about 2500-3000. Once it returned back to idle it started running awfully again.

Ok that's good, plugs will probably need replacing though if you done 15-20k tuned. Have you taken a log using mhd or JB4 yet?

I suggest you take it to a N54 specialist, I'm not sure where you could ship it to, best to get it checked and confirmed first.

I probably did 3 miles on the tune.. After an actual pull on s2+, upon letting off the gas, white smoke dumped out the exhaust and a heavy misfire developed. The car had ran fine prior to this. Do these codes guarantee all the failures I have been reading about (must replace injectors/DME) or is there the possibility of it just being spark plugs, coil packs/ one injector? Should I try to create a log even with it running rough and flashing CEL? Spark plugs arrive tomorrow. Thank you for the article. I will follow the steps of it once I start to tear down my engine.

Injectors and DME need to be checked, if plugs and coils ok.

Can't say for sure without having them checked.

A log would have shown issues with fuel, hpfp, lpfp etc which would have helped diagnose issues.

If its running really rough then probably not a good idea, incase you cause more damage.

I am in the process of taking the DME out to have the mosfet's replaced. MHD responded to my message about the DME codes with a video explaining how to diagnose/repair the DME mosfets and that they were fried. Apparently very common on the MSD80 I am learning.. I am going to hope and pray once I put the DME back in after new mosfet's that it returns back to normal. Will update in the future.

Update. Plugged the DME back in. Cyl 5 misfire. It runs rough. Knocking only coming from back of the car and smoke in the oil chamber. I don't think a spark plug would cause this right :I

Only cyl 5 misfire now? Swap the coil on cyl 5 around to see if misfire follow. When this happened to me, it took out a coil. I had to replace the coil as well as the mosfets.

Yes. Going to try and tackle that when weather clears. Did your engine run as harsh as mine?

Swapping coils round is a good idea to see if it's the coils. What plugs you running at the moment?

From what I read stock ones fail above 400bhp, I'd have the plugs checked as well just to be on the safe side.

Hope the rest of the faults have cleared.

Those codes strongly indicate blown bank 2 injector drivers in the DME. Pull the DME and check the MOSFETs, it's easy.

Replacing the coil pack brought the car back to health. No more misfire. Been driving good for 2 days now. Thank you for all of your help! Best advice I can give is to just be calm during this.. you'll end up breaking more things if not.

That's good to hear. Replaced all my coils with Eldor ones and new plugs before I turned. Never had a misfire since.
