Considering a drop with stock 16"s
I'm driving a black E90 328i with the Injen intake and without the clutch delay valve and next on my list is suspension and other handling upgrades. My car is a base model with zero options so it has the stock 16" rims, I eventually (when I have the money) want to get new rims and tires as well as new springs/shocks but if I wait until I can afford all of them at the same time it will be quite a while which leads me to my question;
How bad do you think the car would look on the stock 16"s if it's dropped a little? I'm not going for any crazy drop, right now my favorite option is the Koni FSD/Eibach Pro-Kit option because I still want a nice ride. Does anyone have pictures of a lowered E90 with the stock 16" rims? I couldn't find any on Google or after searching this site... Another question, obviously having stiffer suspension should make my crappy tires seem even crappier, right? I'm running 205s all around with Bridgestone EL42s (or whatever they replaced those with after the recall) in front and Continentals in back and they're about half way worn too so would it be unwise to upgrade my suspension before I can get some bigger rims and Michelin PS2s on the car? |

Get all the parts first, suspension, wheels and tires and then inatall all of it at the same time. You will have to wait a little longer but it will be worth the wait after you see the transformation of your car. It will feel a lot better too if you upgrade the suspension and tires, PS2's like you said, the difference will be night and day.

I'm definitely planning on upgrading everything eventually (in a few weeks when I have the money) I was just wondering if it would be a bad idea to get the suspension now since I have enough for it and also wanted to know if anyone had pictures of a dropped E90 on 16s.

I was definitely going to get bigger rims (BBS CH perhaps) and fit some fat Michelin PS2s on there but I have the money for suspension now and wanted to know if it would be a bad idea to get that first.
But I've made up my mind, I'm going to wait and get it all together. This morning I was coming home after a concert and it was cold outside and I was sliding all over the place, with a stiffer suspension it would've been really dangerous. To hell with run flat tires. |

^ Good choice. Post pics when you get it all installed.

It'll likely be a long while before I get enough money for all the mods I'd like to do since I'm only 18 and make $12/hr, not to mention I have a few other interests competing for my income...

I'm much more interested in improving the handling of my car, mainly through reducing body roll and bounciness over bumpy roads, than improving the looks.
Obviously I realize that the runflat tires on my car are severely lacking in grip and contribute to the bounciness which is one of my biggest complaints about the car, the problem is the only rims I really like are the Dinan lightweight wheels and a few different styles from BBS which cost over 5 grand for a set so it'll be a long while before I can afford them and even then I'd rather put that money towards a dedicated E36 M3 as a toy rather than dumping so much into my daily car. |
