F30 rack repair kit on e90

So my car has a clunk on the steering rack identical to the ones seen onf F30´s.

Is it possible to use the same repair kit on an e90 steering rack?

The attatched picture is the repair kit.

What I did confirm was that the actual clunk of the steering rack is indeed this piece. The metal to metal contact does not seem to be the pinion or rack tooth smashing.

Clunking sound of steering rack comes from this exact piece smashing with the casing of the rack with the rack rod, tightening this thrust piece will reduce the sound but steering feel at the wheel will become muted and hard.
I will buy some grease and apply it to the trust piece to verify of sound reduces.

The main purpose of this thread is to find a better solution than replacing the complete rack. Cost wise it doesn't make any sense to invest that amount of money on such an old car

I guess that comparison to costs is most appropriate when comparing to whatever you’re replacing it with.

Good research on the rack - hope you’re able to find a fix. How loud is it?

It gets pretty loud, sounds like when you drop a hand sized rock on the ground.

Ok, you may try what I did, steering wheel feels smother. The grease applied reduced the clunking sound.

If there's a demand for this part, it wouldn't be hard to make it with a replaceable acetal (Delrin) insert.

F30 repair kit is for EPS. E90 EPS bushing is very similar (Picture from E90 above is for hydro one). Does anybody knows, or have info about possibility to install this bushing into E90 EPS?
