Charge pipe rubber portion
Has anyone ever replaced just the rubber portion of their charge pipe if so where did you find one that fits?
This is my charge pipe right? I always notice the rubber section with the triple rings around it always gets oil build up I’m sure there is a small leak somewhere between the rings. I was thinking of just cutting the one clamp and replacing just that rubber portion. |

I actually can’t even find where the slit or whole in this rubber portion is but I keep cleaning it and oil keeps building up around it after a few hundred miles. Do you think it’s a big deal? Is this rubber section a common breaking point? Should I just leave it if it’s not really that bad?

Just get a new (upgrade) chargepipe, it may be a leak or haircrack... I bet those DV connection O-rings are leaking boost as well...

Mine also gets a nice mist of oil coating but it's all over the rubber elbow.
I'm sure if you contact the charge pipe manufacturers that they would be able to sell you the silicone elbow. |

Oh wow! I never even considered that possibility. You’re probably right and the hoses that go to the DV are all so old and brittle looking. I’m just running stock and not really planning on running a tune for HP gain. I’m just too old for that. I notice a lot guys will change the charge pipe to an after market one. Is there a decent one that would suit my needs that you would recommend? Any details would be appreciated

Thanks for your response. Not a bad idea. I wonder who makes them. They’re not listed as oem at FCP only the Geuine Bmw but you’re right someone must make them for BMW right?

I remember seeing a video on YouTube that the guy had the original charge pipe but that section was replaced with an aftermarket one like as if he had gotten it from Autozone or something. It looked sturdy and all. That’s what I was kinda leaning to but Jerain brought up a good pint about the DV O rings...

Replace with aftermarket. They have broken even on stock boost and it will strand you if it does break. Replace for peace of mind if anything.

Id just order a new chargepipe that retains oem DVs. Itll include a new rubber elbow and as others have said the stock chargepipe can fail even on stock pressure.
I can also look through my old parts i might still have my stock one if you paid for shipping.

I also still have my stock one if u want it but I took the O ring off and metal clip thing so u would need those. It has some serious miles on it but it held up fine. I only replaced with a aftermarket one for peace of mind and I personally would suggest a upgrade before going stock again.

That’s very generous of you. How many miles do you think you had on it when you took it off?

I got 80k on mine and the plastic parts are like new to be honest I don’t rally see signs of wear. It’s just around that rubber elbow. I actually gave it a leak test with some water and it didn’t seep water yet oil does collect around the grooves. I think I’ll try to rebuild mine. Maybe replace the O rings and all the vacuum lines. Replace the elbow with some big hose or something... if I’m crazy someone stop me. Lol!
