does this tire size sound good for a stretch? 20's

im getting new wheels 20x8.5 fronts and 20x10 for the rears

looking at 255/35 for rears and 225/35 fronts

does this seem like it'll work? any other size recommendations?

looking to stretch these out.
is stretching the tire bad? (wondering for safety reasons)

dont want to be driving fast and have these things come off on me.

Nope won't work. Our cars were designed out of the factory to accommodate tires with an approximate 25.2" height or 830 revs per mile. Your selections run 26.2 and 27 inches respectively, I would never go more than half an inch at the most in either direction from factory spec.

As for stretching, personally I never count it as such unless the tire size you are mounting onto a particular rim is beyond it's specified range. It *may* look stretched, but if the tire manufacturer says its ok then I'm sure it's ok especially based on a liability standpoint on their end.

You're really best off going with 245/35, 285/30 or 235 & 275 like everyone else here when it comes to 20s. Theres' really very little you can do to stretch in that diameter because you'd need to find 25 profile rears to get a stretched effect, and even then they probably wouldn't go beyond a 9.5" rim (safely).

Edit: With 19s you could go 235/35/19, 265/30/19 in order to still allow a 10" rim for the rear. That would probably give a bit of a stretched look.

For 20s the best best is to run 30 profile in the front and 25 in the rear. However, 25 only comes in 285 which is too wide. Thus running 275/30 in the back is fine if you're not slammed. Since 255 is fine on 9.5" wheels, I would imagine 10" will be okay but I personally would run 265.

I have Toyo T1R 225 on a 9" and 255 on a 10" (granted these are 19", not 20") and the stretch is perfect. The widths will work, but you should be using a 30 series front and 25 series rear, and I'm pretty sure they dont make a 255/25/20...

285 in the rear can be done no problem with a drop just depends on offset. I run 285 with 10" rear and KWs. Fenders arent even rolled

However the OP wants the stretched look, which won't be happening with 285s.

I not sure why but I heard that running higher than 25 profile will throw your speedometer off.

10.5 with ET40 should be fine depending on the tires. If the sidewalls are too thick they might rub. Otherwise it will be fine even when it's lowered. The EX-m1 wheels that we carry have the same specs and I have not heard of anyone rubbing (even dropped with springs).

Any tire anybody could recommend that would be good to go with this setup as far as 285 or 275? thank you
