Electrical issues? Lights burning out & door lock actuators failing
Hi everyone,
I'd appreciate any help or ideas from the group. I have a 2006 BMW 325i with electrical issues with lights and door locks. Last December, the right fog light went out, so I replaced both fog lights and the wiring that connects the bulb. It was good for a month and then the right fog light went out again. I ignored it as it seemed isolated, then 3 months later the right tail lamp and the right xenon angel eye also went out at the same time. I replaced the tail light inside the trunk lid with a new bulb (from BMW dealer), and turned on the car and this bulb burned out immediately. I didn't try replacing it the burnt angel eye yet. Am I correct to assume the lighting issues are all related? And that it's a wire short-circuit somewhere? Or something else? Also about a month ago, the driver side door lock actuator went out, but I was still able to open the door from the latch inside (with the double pull). Then 3-4 days later the latch inside wouldn't unlock with the double pull. Then a week after that, the rear passenger door lock actuator stopped working (double pull works in the rear, so it's not the child safety lock). It has been like this now for about 2 weeks. I tried replacing the door lock fuses, no luck. I ordered front and rear door lock actuators, I'm in Canada so it's taking a bit longer to get those here. Before I replace the door lock actuators, I'd like to have the electrical issues fixed in case they're also related. Someone told me it could be footwell module or junction box? Anyone have any thoughts? |
