New 2008 335i E90 price bargaining help
Hi everyone, first time poster here. I am seriously looking to buy a new 2008 335i from a local BMW dealership and was hoping for some advice on bargaining. Here's the specs:
2008 335i E90 Alpine White Black Dakota Leather 6 Speed Automatic w/Steptronic Premium Package Cold Weather Package Sport Package w/paddle shifters Brushed Aluminum Trim iPod and adapter MSRP is $47,400 Does anyone know if they have a standard mark up %? Also, the assessments I did at Edmunds, NADA, and KBB say the invoice should be between $43,000 and $44,000. As this years model is being phased out should I expect to pay close to this amount VS. the MSRP of $47,400. I am meeting again with the sales associate tomorrow afternoon to see if I qualify for the 0.9% APR and hope to have some idea of how much (or little) I should pay for this car. |

08 models should all be going for invoice or even a little bit below. Edmund's prices for invoice are wonky. If you want the BMW price list for MY 08, I've uploaded it to my website - http://www.methodtim.net/MY08E90.pdf.
Don't forget to include delivery and training costs. They're in the pdf. You need to take into account the mid-year price increases too (the pdf was published before those increases took effect). You can find a list of the price increases here: http://www.bmwblog.com/2008/05/06/bm...g-june-1-2008/ There is a somewhat-standard markup of about $400. They call this a MACO fee. I'll be damned if I know what it is, though, as I didn't have to pay it. Good luck. |

Thanks for the resources , but I have come up with a new list of questions.
Just to clarify this if my first time buying a NEW car so please keep that in mind. I calculated the invoice price to be $43,655, and the sales associate confirmed it today when we spoke. The lowest I can get him to drop to is $46,000 from the MSRP of $47,400 (before tax and fees). This doesn't seem consistent with the posters here who have gotten +/- $500 of the invoice price. The car I am negotiating for is actually from another BMW dealer in the "Northeast" region. The local dealer claims that the deliver rate to us in Virginia will be between $1000-$1500 which seems very high to me. Is the dealer trying to make a quick buck or is this really the best he can do? Also, he said that allowing me to pickup the car myself was out of the question. Can anyone confirm this? I'd love to get this particular car at the most reasonable price and any advice would be greatly appreciated! |

No way should you pay that much for that car!!! Any more than $500 over invoice is ridiculous... The '09s will start hitting the showrooms next month so if you can wait, I think October would be the best time to buy an '08. Dealers will be desperate to get them off the lot... good luck!

Yea, I guess I have a little experience in this matter... I know the dealers do NOT want to keep '08s on their lot with the '09s sitting on the showroom floor... why would anyone buy an '08 unless it was heavily discounted? Also, I am buying a '09 335i sedan for a little (somewhere in between $500 & $1000) over invoice! Many people on this forum have gotten '07-'08 335i's for 0-$1000 over invoice with no problem! If your local dealer wants a penny more than $500 over invoice, I would try finding a dealer that is more volume oriented... Don't let your local stealership break you... stay strong!

Good Price on new 2008 335i model
Hey guys, what do you think of this price for a 2008 335i that was quoted by a dealer. I am debating weather to get a 2008 model or wait for the 2009. I was hoping to great a big discount due to the state of the economy and with bmw giving incentives since they are trying to clear out the 2008 models. Is this a good deal or should i expect to pay a lot less? How much have people been getting their 2008 335i these days. Please post if you got a good deal. Any advise would greatly help. Thanks in advance.

However, since they are trying to acquire the car from another dealership out of state, you will be charged for transportation costs. Which, to my understanding ranges from $500 to $1000 depending on how far the drive is. Also, whether or not the other dealer wants a certain car for trade has a barring on the sale cost and transportation cost total as well. They wont trade a car to lose money. Bottom line.. you might be better off with an 09. My $0.02 |

i agree. i went that route too - having the dealer quote me on some 08 pricing to see if there was a big enough incentive/discount.. bottom line.. there wasn't.. i'd pay the 2k extra and go w/the 09's. think resale value/residual.. oh, and the amberless headlights ![]() |

Hey guys what do you think about this offer from one of the dealers.
Since they didn't have sparkling graphite metallic with the specs I wanted, they offered a Jet black with a few more added features (comfort access, sat radio, rear window shades). Offer was for $42,000 flat. Msrp was $47,870 and invoice was $44,277. I was able to get him to drop it to $42,000. What do you guys think? Is this a good deal? BMW 335 -Jet Black(Walnut wood trim) -Automatic Transmission. -Premium package -Sports package -heated front seats -Comfort access -grey dakota leather seats -ipod and usb adapter -satellite radio- -rear manual window shade |

"Resistall" is a coating that they put on your car to protect the paint against weather induced fading, loss of gloss, tree sap, etc. I decided to get it since I got jet black. They're charging $789 for it...is it worth getting?
Tire and wheel guarantee insurance: $835. I figured it might be worth getting since run flats costs so much to replace. And they told me that if you get a flat you can't patch it, you would have to replace it completely. Is that true? "Karr Security System": $849. I don't know much important it is to get this. Dealer told me that the BMW alarm is more superior to the ones outside. You guys think it's worth it? Last edited by celticsfan; 09-28-2008 at 05:56 AM.. Reason: submitted twice |

oh that the Resistall coating. i was going to get it, but i wasnt sure still debating on getting it. its really up to you if you want to protect your paint. tire and wheel its worth it if your car is a daily driver. im not sure about the patching i have never experienced it. like i said, for the alarm its only really worth buying if your car is parked in a garage. unless it is parked outside over the night i wouold get it. damn just for getting all 3 your going to spend $2473 plus tax.
