Combox retofit airbag light
So working on the bluetooth for my brothers car has brought back interest to put combox into my fathers.
its an 07 335 (prewired for TCU) and I-drive(CIC retrofit, 0910 build, C16 firmware), Combox telematics. I have the connector and re-pinned as shown(Ive tried power in slot 1&2). When I plug the connector in I get an airbag restraint light(removing it also removes the light). 20200722_201908 20200722_201949 I checked many sources and my wiring seems to be right but is anything obviously out of place? I still have pins in #3 and #46 (Both for eject box) left out of the combox plug. As well I couldn't even get to change the VO as it wouldnt take it (coapi 1181) and I'm assuming this is related. Any ideas? I'm out of my element diagnoising this Last edited by neilvan; 07-23-2020 at 07:29 AM.. |

combox will work only with CIC or CIC-MID headunit,
2007 cars from factory haven't them.

Also thinking. The car was only pre-wired (no TCU or Mulf stock). Would the most system (at the junction) be the same as what it would be if I had a TCU installed?

You can buy adapters that make the change without rerouting
or re pinning any wires. I don't see how the airbag error relates to the Combox but it could be programming if the SOS function on the Combox is enabled. Not even sure the Combox has and SOS function. You better be sure your coding setup is working by running Inpa before messing with coding and its a good idea to at least run functional jobs in Inpa before every coding session. Most Bus modules cannot be programmed without and ICOM on cars made after 3/07 is what people on this board keep saying. |

We looked into adapters but I grabbed the connector from the scrap yard for free(combox free too) and repinning is free. The adapter plus shipping and currency conversion is worth just pulling the wires out and swapping over.
I agree the airbag I cant see being related but 2 wires do go to the FZD overhead box and 1 is labelled crash something. The car does not have SOS either. The coding computer does work (coded bluetooth on our other 328 30 mins before). I wasn't planning on coding the combox, just changine the VO and FA_write the modules to get bluetooth to show up; The rest of it I can do another time. |

So I pulled wire #7(combox connector and 15 on TCU) which is the "Crash" wire. Got rid of my airbag light and I was able to code the CIC and combox in.
Now BT shows up but its not seeing anything so I now think the MOST wiring is my issue |

What do you mean by not seeing anything?
If you have a TCU/Mulf combination previously that is two most connection one of which must now be most jumped. |

When unplugging the most connector from the combox, I get no warning lights so my guess is there is no complete connection to break. I followed the BMW guide but doing that I lost radio sound doing that |
