GM trans + track = bad idea?

I plan on taking my 328 to a local track within the next few months. Sadly the car is auto with the GM transmission. Car has 50K miles and the fluid and filter were changed at about 40K. Will the GM trans hold up on the track? I dont plan on tracking the car on a regular basis. Maybe 2-3 track days a year.

What kind of track? Road? How many sessions and how long is each? Drag? How many runs and how long in-between each??

Road course, 2.7 miles, 15 turns and half mile straight. Not exactly sure how many laps I'd be doing at once or the time in-between, I've only driven on track 2 times and it was in a rented car.

LOL i went on a track called auto club speedway. Went from 134mph down to 50-40mph for the first corner every lap in my GM tranny Bmw 328i in DS lololol. Also countless autoX with it in manual mode. Everyday it gets driven hard and i use manual mode to downshift in traffic and around town before i hit corners hard. I shift right before 7000rpm but if i let it shift itself it does it at 7200rpm. Just do it.

That one pothole or bump at the end. You can smoke a cig on that straight if u wanted to. I get so close to the walk to hit that perfect line when i brake for the first corner

Well that about sums it up for me, ill go through with it. I was thinking about doing the 335 trans cooler in the wheel well. Do you think I should do it or is it no lt worth the extra work.

Car already has a trans cooler.

If these are your first track excursions there’s just no way you will be fast enough to need an auxiliary cooler.

I would just do trans flushes more often. It’s on like $50 to DIY with no filter. And really you probably don’t even need to do that until you’re fast.

It will be fine. These are pretty sturdy transmissions, if nothing else.
