I don't get the arrows thing. If the radar is to the side, I'll soon be behind you. If the radar is behind you, it'll soon be out of range. With some experience, you'll be able to visualize this with your Escort's signal strength meter...or multiple signal strength meters, if set to 'expert' mode. I suppose you can more quickly ascertain this with the arrows, but why not play it safe and keep to the speed limit when traffic radar is present? If it's behind you, it'll be out of range momentarily, and you can return to warp drive. I'll gladly trade the V1's arrows for the multiple signal strength meters on my Escort...they make for the best 'bogey counter' on the market. That said, I'm quite sure that the V1 is an excellent radar detector...picking one vs. the other is more about picking features than having to determine which one has better performance. |

well with the arrows its nice say your going down the highway ka starts going up and it points forwards then it gets stronger and soon the arrows go to the side then back, you can visually see the cop passing you and be sure that it is the one with rdar and be on your way instead of guessing.. also if there is a false k it will blink ka as well and blink in that direction. to me these features makes me sure of where and what the threat is somthing escort can not do.

As far as general ability to weed out false sources, I've read that the Escort is [depending on the review/situation] either better or worse than the V1, so we should probably call that a tie. |

I have the 9500iX as well and love it. To be honest with you guys, the redlight camera feature is not for everyone... In fact I have it turned off currently.
It makes no sense in metro areas; for example, if you are driving down a parkway through a city (I live in NYC), it will notify you of redlight cameras adjacent to the parkway. One thing I never understood about the V1 is why do people need these arrows? Who cares where the signal or cop is, if I'm driving above the speed limit, on a highway, and my radar goes off... I'm pressing the brake no matter which direction the signal is coming from. |

I know many people do not get the arrow thing on V1 and first I was not sure it had any value. However, I'll give you a real world use for it.
When you heading down the road and you get a signal coming from the front you have no idea what side of the road the officer is on. If he is on the other side shoot cars coming his direction you will get a bounce back from the cars coming in his direction which makes you think the officer is in front of you. However once you past his location and many road with their Concrete barriers you can not see over them you will have no idea he is on the other side since you do not have the second receiver and arrow to tell you the stronger signal is now behind you. I also seen where the officer was hiding behind a bridge shooting cars as the pass him, but if you do not have the rear facing detector you may not know you just passed him and he is now behind you and he just tagged you. I see these kind of things all the time and I use the arrows to determine where it safe to pick up the speed again, special if you can not eye ball the officer location. |

I have an Escort SRX, a V1 and a Navalert. The V1 generally (but not always) picks up a "bogey" first. The V1 arrows are invaluable, The escort is much better for Laser and (at least theoretically) will jam laser.

There are two types of people:
A.) Those who own V1's. B.) Those that would like to own V1's. Once you have a V1... you'll never go back...

you guys are lucky in dealing with outdated police radars. I have a V-one covered in dust. Any buyers? It won't pick up our European Multinova radars while parked in front of it (i tried with short on/off bursts as radardetectors are not appreciated here). It only picks up fixed "Gatso" camera's which are just too visable anyway. On the other hand, Multinova's are stuck in dustbins donwtown, or on small camouflaged tripods on highways.
Best radar detector here is stinger.nl, but at $2500 or so.. |

However, getting the 9500i for my present car/present location was a no brainer given its unmatched ability to rule out false alarms. There are six (yes 6) "Your Speed Limit" radar signs on my commute each way. With the 9500i, it's dead silent . . . except for the one time a patrol officer was sitting right next to one of those signs. When I got that alert, I thought the 9500i somehow forgot the radar sign location. I dumbfoundedly slowed down, just in time to see smokey parked just beyond the sign with his radar gun drawn and pointed towards oncoming traffic. No tickets here. |
