DIY QUESTION REGARDING FUSE BOX e92 2008
I was wondering if anyone knew which fuse number (in the fuse box) of an 08 e92 is an accessory fuse that I can use to power up a small electrical accessory. Thank you guys in advance, i appreciate your time!!

I used the Homelink fuse (as instructed on the Escort hardwire DIY on this site) because its energized when the car is "on" i.e. not in "accessory" mode. Its #7.
If you want this item powered while in accessory mode you'll have to choose another fuse.

As far as I know we don't have an usable constant battery +. The ECU will power off about anything after a while (about one minute). Sure there must be power to at least the clock, and at least one vehicle ECU that is in standby, but good luck in finding the wire(s). And when you do find it and tap into it, you might trigger an ECU fault. Pulling a wire directly from the battery seems by far the easiest solution, and put your own fuse in there. I did this for my parrot handsfree, it runs behind the wheel well covering in the trunk, under the rear seats, and then under the armrest. 10 minute job if you have one of these flex fiberglass things electricians use to pull wires thru the house, and removing the trunk floor panel. There's at least one small stud on the battery plus terminal (facing front of the car) you can put a cable eye on.
Some people believe the flashlight charger is allways on - personally I doubt that. Although i don't have it the way to check it is to run wires from it to outside the car, close the car and check 10 minutes later if you still have current. The moment you open the car door the ECU will power up a few things, so seeing power after you open the door doesn't tell you anything. |
