my friend got a progman update today v30 or v29.02.02 w/e it is, and got himself an 2g iphone as well. so he goes into his i-drive and pairs the phone, enters the password, and the phone is synced.

on the iphone wifi is off and the only things on are location services and bluetooth.

we called the iphone when paired to the car and it can recieve and make calls no problem, but for some reason the address book isn't popping up. any idea how to fix this? the iphone also has 2.1 firmware (latest).

help appreciated. thanks guys.

my Palm Centro is like this, i havent seen my address book on there, so i just figured that it didnt work haha

Are you talking about the contacts (phone numbers) or actual addresses for the Navigation?

If you are talking about contacts they should come up no problem (abeit a little slow) when you first boot up the car.

I am running the 2.1 software and have no issues with my phonebook coming up on the idrive or even voicedialing them.

I would try unpairing (delete the iphone from the BMW list) and repairing it.

Ja but the Centro isn't compatible, the iPhone is.

the contact list isn't there. for example before my friend had a razr. and you can voice dial "home" and from the address book it would dial it. but when he paired the iphone the voice dial doesn't work nor do the contacts (names and numbers) come up on the i drive screen.

my friend does have a password lock (the password you enter to access the phone if untouched for awhile). we tried disabling this and still wouldn't come up.

Not iPhone version 2.1. Latest supported version is 2.0.1, which is two behind the current version.

My iPhone is at 2.1 and works well with my car. I can't say what Progman I am at, though.

Hmm, all I can say is completely delete out the phone from Idrive and re pair it (reboot the phone as well).

I am running very close to the latest software on my car (updated in June) and my iphone has the 2.1 software.

I can voice dial (although it doesnt like the way I talk sometimes lol) and I always get caller id and the phonebook upon pairing.

ok after me and my friend unpaired the phone and repaired it, we made some progress. now when he gets an incomming call the number shows up on the i drive instead of *****. but the address book is still not syncing. the number on the i drive comes out exactly it is in the address book though but no name.

wifi is off, bluetooth on, and location services on. do you guys have location services on too and do you guys use the password function on the iphone? if so do you guys use the same password for the bluetooth connection?

I dont have location services on, I also do not have my password on.

I had the weirdest thing happen yesterday though, I never saw this before but in the lower left corner where it says iphone (when its paired), after I dropped a call yesterday it said net.services.

I have password enabled on my phone (original 8Gb version, 2.1 firmware), my car is july built '08 w/ idrive (don't know what progman is?) My address book sync's no prob.

When you pair, it doesn't matter really what you use for the bluetooth password, as long as you enter the same number into the phone and into the idrive.

Do you get error on sync, or does it sync okay, but no address book?

My Progrman was updated in Sept, and with my iPhone 1G, sofware 1.3, it sync'd my contacts. I switched to the 3G a couple weeks later and it won't sync my contacts, comes up with "Syncing Contacts, please wait" or something like that, but never completes syncing. I've deleted the pairing from both the car and the iPhone, restarted the iPhone, but the same thing happened.

Any help would be great!

how do you delet the pairing from the car as i don't see an option for a list of paired phones (car can store 5) and i don't get an error sync. just no address book and when i go to it it just says please wait...
