335i auxiliary radiator upgrade.

I been looking at ways to improve the cooling system in my 335i n54 one of the things I seen are this kit https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...17117602241kt/ . Has anyone had experience with this kit? Also are there any diy I can follow for the install for this?

It's a pretty huge PITA to do. For the same price you can get a CSF radiator that will perform as well or better. It's drop-in, plug, fill and play.

I'm sure the CSF is great, but I fail to see how a radiator that's the exact same size as stock could be much better. Sure, it might have slightly different rows or fins that are somehow more efficient than what the engineers at BMW came up with. But I'd suggest that's good for marginal gains at best. The CSF advantage seems to be the hardiness of no-plastic, and the hand-polished mirror finish.

While it might be expensive and a PITA, I think real cooling performance gains could come from an aux rad. You're adding frontal surface area that'll be sucking up air at 60MPH.

Who says it is the same size?

Also the core design/# of fins has a very large effect on cooling efficiency. Aluminum end tanks are an added bonus for reliability too.

That compared to a 2nd rad the size of a small book of the same design? Its easy to tell what will make a bigger difference

Quick search shows stock radiator at 33mm (1.3") and the CSF at 42mm (1.6"); thats a 27% increase in thickness plus the better fin/row design they have.

The stock radiator is pretty efficient. What problems are you having that you cant keep car cool?

Not me, and yes I realize citing another forum doesn't make it fact. But I'm just offering another person supporting my viewpoint:

Finally you don't really want to remove the oil thermostat on a dual purpose street-track car, especially not with an upgraded oil cooler. You want the oil to get up to +110C. For track use, upgrading the frontal area of the radiator, oil cooler and FMIC is what works... dont waste time on increasing thickness of coolers (read: CSF radiator, VRSF 7in FMIC etc), and leave the fan as is. This is my hard earned advice based on analyzing logs from many track days.
