Question new car with no SAT

hey guys I'm planning of buying a used 335i coupe from a friend of mine, the car is perfect, is practically full equip.

Sport P, Premium P, Cold Weather P, CA, NAV, Parking Sensors.

black with red interior.

however is does not have Sirius installed.

this will not stop me from buying it but I really hate listening to radio I got used to sirius I love it

I search some thread but I'm confuse some people say that all US E9X's come prewire for Sirius and some people say that you have to have the option.

any ideas ?

Sirius is ghey. Get an iPod, load it up with songs (torrent them if you want), and you're good to go.

You can definitely add Sirius. That wouldn't be hard to do at all.

I think I read somewhere here that Sirius aftermarket is not as well intergrated with the Idrive. But, since I've never had a Bimmer with Idrive before (and my new one is not even manufactured yet!) I can't say for sure.

Make some MP3 CDs. Cheap, fit a ton of songs on them, and better quality than sat radio that I've listened to (I've only heard XM, but I assume Sirius sounds the same).

Car is pre wired for it - just add it, 500 dealer installed or you can buy the module and just plug it in pretty much in the trunk if you are a bit technical and you will only be out a little over 200.

Or like everyone else says - waste of money and don't bother!

Yep, all cars come prewired. Just add module and reprogram.

Since you love/want sirius, you have 2 options.
1 - BMW sirius module that integrates with your car stereo.
2 - go after market.

I went with the integrated BMW module.

US cars are pre-wired for it, (you can lift out the trunk floor panel to verify). Installation requires pulling the rear seat back with non split seats (or just removing the side panel with split seats), moving the fiber connections to put the module into the MOST fiber loop. Mounting the module and plugging it in is a 5 minute job after that.

A trip to the dealer to program the car to use the module is required.

I did the install myself and went to the dealer for programming.

My Cost:
Module: $495
Mounting bracket: $15
Programming: 1 hour at dealer rate.

I decided to install the sat radio because even though I have some 35,000 mp3's in my ripped CD collection, I'm sick of them. And commercial FM radio is just worthless. song - yak yak yak - commercials for 5 minutes - yak yak yak - song.

Integrated is/was my preference. I like the integrated controls. The BMW modules comes with a 1 year sirius subscription which offsets the cost by about $150.

Your call but that's how it went for me.

Calvino,

If you like the Sirius system, like me, then getting the Sirius setup from BMW is the way to go. My car was pre-wired, and the dealer had to buy the factory attachment; supposedly, the system mounts in the trunk somewhere, but once installed, it works with your "sharkfin" antenna on top of your car.

Benefits: Links to your current factory radio - allows you to navigate the system using your factory radio; you will get a 1 year free subscription with the purchase of the system from the dealer.

Cons: Dealer cost, but if you can afford a Bimmer, then this should be chump change (i.e. about 450 to 500 dollars)
