Oil Changed when Oil Cooler installed?
I was just wondering if when they retrofit the oil cooler for pre-March cars, do they also change the oil? I need an oil change but I was gonna hold off until BMW installs the oil cooler, or should I just go get it done?

You should tell them to change or add oil.
If it's about time to get annual oil change, you should get it done at the same time you get retrofit of oil cooler. If not, ask them to change oil or add more oil.

When I got mine, they said an oil change is not included with the oil cooler retro fit service and if i wanted one I would have to request it and pay for that myself

They shouldn't have to collect/drain any oil, the lines from the oil cooler go to the oil filter at the top of the motor so they may lose a little. They may have to top off with some new oil to make up for the small amount lost and the added volume with the oil cooler.

They don't have to drain the oil, they will lose a little bit by installing the unit for the thermostat housing, but that's just a top off after they are done.

hey do you guys know what happens to the leftover oil inside your oil cooler? Does it get flushed out after you get the oil change or does it remain in there and get mixed in with the new oil?

Actually, I would have to say that area could be left to some interpretation by the SA. Mine was really good about things, and agreed that an oil change was warranted with tis procedure. Mind you, I consider this the exception.
