Winkfp is used for updating individual modules.

Use Inpa Functional jobs to find the level of hardware
and firmware for each module.

You can make ista p bypass modules if you know how to steer it see the last link.
The BMW doctor has many useful tutorials although he gets a bit wordy.
Using ista p is dangerous . You must use it with a a regulated power supply
and a Icom cable to minimize problems. You cannot program Entertainment
and Communications modules (Most Bus Modules ) on cars made after 3/07
with a K/D can cable you need and Icom cable for that.

Updating the amplifier is not the same as changing stereo system options.
which is done at the head unit.

Thanks for the reply, im in this problem because i was using a bimmergeeks kdcan cable and i tried to program my new trailer ahm module which turned into programming every module in the car .............. took 2 hours and somehow the only module that aborted was amplifier... wasnt till after i started the process i realized what was happening..... sucks, but it is what it is...

so the best way to program the amplifier is with winkfp?

If it was the only thing it stopped on it may be the ICOM issue.
There is no best way.
Winkfp is the most common way .

Ista P can be dangerous program you should look at the
Doctor BMW video's on the subject. And on the subject
of programming in general.

Did it bring the sound back?
How many firmware revisions did it offer you?
