Can't get CCV to oil sump pipe to click in place, broke two!

Pic is the end of the CCV pipe that goes into the metal hard line to the sump on my N52. Just could not get it to click into place. Broke the plastic insert trying, recovered one from the old hose and broke that too. Car now stuck until I get a new part and figure out how to fit it.

How on earth does it work? Any help appreciated, thanks.
