I drove a 2009 Dodge Challenger today.
So after drill I decided to go with a friend to take a look at a couple 2009 Dodge Challengers we saw at the dealership. They had one V6 model and one R/T. The R/T was an automatic, with leather and 18" wheels priced at $29,*** and it was "Deep Water Blue". I am usually far from attracted to dark blue like colors but this was kind of nice. The name of the color really explains it well. So for you who don't know what the R/T brings to the table: 370hp/398tq rated at 16mpg city and about 3,700lbs I think. Overall I really liked the car, the design was simple, but very well done in an "I don't think I will get sick of this look" kind of way. The stock exhaust note was rather weak for what the car is so an aftermarket is a must, so isn't a serious drop in the suspension. The car was deceptively fast, 80-110mph went unnoticed but overall I thought it did ok in braking and the twisties for what it was. However I must say that the entire time I was drooling over what the car COULD be after some touches (exhaust, window tint, suspension lowering and some nice wheels would do wonders I think). Here is the car... in stock form
and here is the look I would shoot for if I bought one... |

I didn't even know that the V6 and R/T's are out yet. I though those wouldn't come out till 2009?
I saw the SRT8 at the dealer while it was being unloaded from the truck and the driver was revving it and it sounded awesome. And even the SRT8 is cheap too and the fuel economy is pretty much similar to the R/T. Can't wait to see how the new Camaro will be like. ________ Ge Honda Aero Engines History ________ YAMAHA ZUMA ________ LovelyWendie ________ Medical Marijuana States Last edited by OverDrive; 04-14-2011 at 10:33 PM.. |

I think regardless of which car comes out on top the styling will declare the winner. Especially considering all out performance isn't exactly what everyone NEEDS out of these.
Here they are next to each other: |

Just based on looks, I'd take the Camaro over the others, but that's just my opinion.

Really nice color. I've seen an orange one around my work a few times. I am sure people are going to buy it, regardless of the economy and the V8 thing.

Considering American car makers have been around almost twice as long as the other guys? Yes. Especially considering most of Americas work load is driven by our trucks, ranging from half ton to diesel... and how are they overpriced? You spend $40,000 for a 215hp 3 Series and $29,000 for 370hp and 400tq in a good looking more reliable car is overpriced? You may not think fit and finish is there but American cars for the most part are more dependable then the finicky German.

I like the new Challenger. As long as they have the V8's. Something about the base models that looks like crap. And the sound.... |

I saw two orange ones on my way to the airport on last Wednesday,... they look big, but good,... I'd like to drive one, but would never own one, and I'm talking SRT8,... nevermind the V6.

I love the exterior of that car. I could do unimaginable mods to it so it would turn every head on the road. One thing I can't live with is this interior:

The seats are nice, it's well put together... just not the most attractive set up on earth. It all depends on if you value caliber potency or how shiny the freakin' bullet casing is.

+1 Chrysler interiors have always killed it for me. They're interiors are the worst in style and quality. I have rarely been in a ten year old Dodge that's dash doesn't look like it's been through hell and back. Never see that with Chevy's and Fords interiors. |

I saw one today at the galleria - a midnight blue SE - I know the interior sucks but this car is beautiful, even a chick-like SE
I felt like I was in 1978 again (I was 2 at the time) - I half expected to see my uncle with his juiced up arms, mullet hair and weird sweater like they used to wear in "Starsky and Hutch" - I could have hopped in the seatbeltless back and rode with him and my Dad to the hardware store - now that is priceless. |
