GA6L45 valve body Swap

This week, I will be swapping out my valve body and control module on a GA6l45R (I have a 07 e91 wagon). I am kind of new to DIY but have my car on ramps and I'm all prepped and ready to go. It looks pretty straightforward except for one thing that I am confused about:

What are the reset steps I need to take after the used VB is installed? Is it just having to reset adaptations, control module or do I need to do some VIN thingee coding seeing as I am putting a used VB into my car. Any help is most appreciated.

Sorry to revive an old post with no comments but I am in the same situation with my E91. Has anyone successfully done this and is programming needed? If so what software/tool would be most cost effective to program.
