BMS Dual Cone Intakes REVIEW

I've felt the car's been sluggish for the past couple of weeks and was tearing my hair out wondering why. The car would feel fine after a reset or on a cool night but otherwise I found myself having to give it more throttle on the street and highway than before.

I installed the BMS intake Friday night before I left for dinner and was impressed halfway down the block. The car instantly felt more responsive and smoother. It was as if I had been lugging around a couple extra hundred pounds before.

There's been a lot of controversy on the forums lately over which intake to get and which design is best. My opinion on the matter is that almost every intake out there right now will suffer from a little heat. There are intakes with heatshields and intakes that have been coated but they're all prone to the same thing. My last intake which was coated still heated up and from what I've seen in person as well as heard the heatshield designs do almost nothing sitting on top of the engine.

The biggest difference from intake to intake is going to be filter surface area, air flow, and equal length piping. The BMS intake has all three. It's a simple design but has large filters that can suck in air around its perimeter and even its center core. Both filters are also perfectly in line with the airflow coming into the engine bay - whereas on other intakes the forward filter receives significantly more airflow than the rear filter.

Looks wise, it's decent looking. It's not going to win a beauty pageant but it's purpose built, makes gains and looks mean. I showed the car on Saturday at JDM Theory San Jose Spirit of Japantown and received nothing but compliments on the mean look of the filters. The car also took 1st place Euro so the intake is good enough for to be shown as well.

BOTTOM LINE: It makes gains; it maximizes flow and reduces restriction; it looks decent; and the price makes sense. BMS Dual Cone Intake

Has there been a performance test between the dual BMS and the original single filter BMS?I have the single and love it.The dual looks ten times better though.

not that i know of, but if you're tuned the car probably wouldn't mind the extra filter surface area. that would be my opinion though

SSTT and BMS single open element filter.Otherwise bone stock. Runs sweet and gets 20mpg local driving spirited.

my BMS dual cone is on the way. Hopefully it will free up some air, because my car feels like it starts running out of breath in the high RPM's with the JB3 and catless downpipes.

It will definitely make a difference and I know EXACTLY what you mean. Before when I got anywhere near red line you could feel the car choke up higher in the range
