Warranty question...

I figured i would ask canadians this one since the americans give me a zillion different answers:

what is covered warranty wise upon purchase of your car. I have a 2oo8 coupe and its financed, not leased.

This is what i have heard:

Scheduled inspections: $0
Brake Pads: $0
Brake Rotors: $0
Engine Belts: $0
Oil Changes: $0
Wiper Blade Inserts: $0
Inspections: $0
Fluid Services: $0

Is this a SPECIAL warranty or is this the standard if you purchased a new BMW.

Thanks.

In Canada rotors and pads are only covered until 15K kms or 1 year which ever comes first.

Unless you buy the optional service package.

Oil change is covered, but only at the BMW recommended interval which is like 20k kms/1 year.

Scheduled inspections: $0 Yes
Brake Pads: $0 First year only
Brake Rotors: $0 First year only
Engine Belts: $0 No
Oil Changes: $0 Only when your service reminder said so...
Wiper Blade Inserts: $0 No
Inspections: $0 Only scheduled inspection, or if there is some problem with your car
Fluid Services: $0 Depends

If you get the "service inclusive" for 3 or 4 years, then everything is included.

I had to get my transmission fluid flush according to the trip computer, that was done free of charge under the standard warrenty.

If you are running low on windsheild fluid or oil, or coolant, they will top them up for free right at the spot (at least at Parkview)

If you get some strange service reminder that is apprently not applicable to Canadians (emission test for example, in the first few years), they will also reset them on the spot free of charge. Burnt bulbs, they may also replace free of charge, but I think this is dependent on the dealer. (I was told the bulbs will last quite a long time)

again some dealers differ by rules...i believe you can purchase the extended warranty up to 1 month after you purchase your new vehicle...if it is over, they may charge you a nominal fee...

328i coupe, 08' would be:
3 years/60k - $795
4 years/80k - $1875

The 4th year is obviously more expensive since the brake job will probably happen around that time.

It includes:
Brake Linings, Brake Rotors, Engine Belts, Wiper Blades, Cluth Components and "Minor Adjustments"

The BMW Canada site also said it's on normal wear-and-tear. The service interval will be based on the dashboard indicator.

It's probably a better idea to keep the money because the amount you pay at the time will be about the same...

I bought the 4 year extension, I figured 1 good brake job will pay for the warrenty.

We had an Audi w/ the comprehensive warrenty (that included wear and tear items for a full 4 years). I thought the BMW had the same and asked the sales. I did not realize the warrently only applies to scheduled maintenances and do not include other items (such as brakes). Live and learn I guess.

My Audi warranty used to cover EVERYTHING including brake pads, rotors, wiper blades, and even light bulbs.

BTW - The BMW free oil change is for whenever the computer says it is time, or ONCE A YEAR, whichever comes first.
