Neighbors constantly fighting
I’m am beyond fed up at this point. It is almost everyday that my neighbors decide to fight and have a screaming match in their front yard. I’m not looking to cause more problems as i dont want to have problems with my neighbors. However i’m about to the point of calling the cops.
What would you do? It’s about like having the jerry springer show at my doorstep everyday

HOA? Cops? Divorce lawyer? Call someone if the noise levels are unacceptable.

You just came up with your own solution and didn't even realize it! Visibly (so they see you doing it) video their alfresco arguments, and post them to YouTube and social media if you use it. Courts have ruled many times that there is no expectation of privacy when recording someone outdoors. If they call the police, they will be told that there is nothing they can do to stop your recordings because it was outdoors. Long story short, they will either move their arguments inside, or you will make enough money off of viral video ads to move away.....

I wouldn't do anything. Sometimes yelling and screaming is therapeutic.
Especially if people are working from home due to covid. I'd intervene myself before calling the cops. I'd walk over while they're fighting and invite the guy over to my place. If he gets flippant with you double-down and tell him to come over another time and hang out. |

I think the idea above to troll/shame them would be nice. Take some videos of what they're doing and post it on local community social media pages. That or send it to local news stations.

So if you're sick of it so are the other neighbours, drop a dime. The cops won't tell them who called. Or yell at them out the front door and tell them that you'll call the cops. The problem with that is....then they know who called Five-O. Fuck em

How bad is it? I guess my question is, I assume they're fighting (loudly) briefly for short periods at a time. Is it really interfering with your life?
Not suggesting you're being dramatic by any means I'm genuinely curious how bad the fighting is and the volume of it... |

Call the police every single time they have a show. Make it the police's problem, don't let them know it's you but make it obvious the neighbors can tell. Eventually, the police will make them figure it out.

Well i can hear it from inside my house with my tv on and windows shut. It doesn’t always last to long but it can go from 5min to atleast 30min of fighting typically multiple times a week. I have to get up for work at 4am so i normally go to bed around 9pm and there’s been days their fighting has been later on and prevented me from sleeping.
I think i am gonna call the police next time it happens. Would i call 911 or the non emergency line?

Talk to one of your other neighbors that you think can hear them and try to convince them they should do something about it. Or call police, or ignore it. I wouldn’t go over and try to counsel them.

Verbal argument i dont really see it turning physical(anything could happen though) mostly the female screaming alot and then after however long she normally gets in her car and races off doing probably 40mph in the neighborhood
I have no interest in being involved or counseling. They arent even married and havent been together for a year. I know that because her old fiancee lived there before for a couple years and things were always peaceful and imo he was a much better guy. Army vet. He had PTSD and was a purple heart recipient so he was on disability and home all the time

Call the police and let them deal with it, the couple will either take it inside or get defensive and try to figure out who has a problem but at least you’ve gone on the record.

Domestics are some of the scariest and most violent calls officers go on. Because of this, state laws are usually quite tough regarding this. Just know, depending on your state laws, often times when police are called and it is a domestic dispute, one person has to go to jail. While I’m sure it doesn’t seem too hard a pill for you to swallow, there could be repercussions in the form of retaliation if you send a neighbor for an all expense taxpayer paid night in a cold room.

My thoughts are.....
...let the involved parties initiate police contact if there's nothing physical occurring. A lot of the time we get informants calling who want to remain anonymous and we arrive to find that it's verbal only. We can't force people to leave toxic situations, so if it hasn't risen to the level of corporal injury upon a spouse/co-habitant (...or at least a misdemeanor level DV act), there really isn't anything law enforcement can do. I know it's frustrating, but you run the risk of retaliation should they believe you had something to do with the police contacting them. That, or further frustration when we arrive and determine there's no crime (...and the arguments continue). |

I think that is a horrible idea. Anybody who does that is looking to end up in the hospital or worse. DO NOT get involved with people's domestic issues. People get shot over shit like that. Maybe you're eager to be the recipient of somebody's 9mm rounds?!?! Shrug.
