Single turbo reliability
I want to hear from REAL single turbo owners not people who heard of some guy on the internet lol. How reliable is a single turbo. I want more power but not tryna drop the subframe of an upgraded turbo decides to clap itself. Im really only looking for 500-600hp so i'm not tryna push my motor till rods get sent through the earth into china. anyway i'd love to hear from y'all!

I have had 2 friends in my local BMW club who went single and they tried to pile in timing/boost early and added in all the stressors like rolling anti-lag, NLS, 93 octane+meth vs e85, did not have index12 injectors and most aren't on their original motors due to ringlands or conrod bearings. Small sample size and all that though
I ran on mmp twins and full e85 but kept boost low under 4k and never had an issue motor-wise. Their small single turbos (5862, 6062 respectively) would "out-spool" my twins because they wanted more a aggressive tune. I made 100whp more than them fwiw (500@22psi vs 625@28psi) so it wasn't strictly power issue.

Mine has been problem free for over 2+ years. 93 + 1200cc of meth 22psi around 550-600whp I would guess from what I have seen other dyno on a dynojet. I will get around to it someday.
A single is inherently twice as reliable as twins and has the ability to make significantly more power. A single turbo sounds sooo much better. You should be able to hit 500whp on 93 alone. Add meth or ethanol mixes for lots more fun. That being said those new RB GFs look cool. |
