Running mhd stage 2+ for winter w/ no fmic?
This is my first bmw, coming from a na 2005 mustang gt. All i can say is WOW i slept on bmw for way too long, this thing is a beast. Currently I have a 2010 e90 335i, running MHD Stage 1+, VRSF chargepipe, ARM DP's, BMS DCI's (purely for sound ). Currently my butt dyno feels like I'm pushing low 400's to the crank. I've datalogged with MHD to monitor my timing and even with tapping right up to 19PSI my timing correction doesn't stray away from 0. I ran with my dad's ISF back when he was stock and I was on stage 1 and he barely walked me. Now I'm on stage 1+ and he's got primary cat delete and a few other tasteful supporting mods to lead him to making about 460ish, we ran it again and the gap was the same, so we both came to the conclusion that my stage 1+ could've taken his stock F. My question is this, now that it's nearing winter and hot weather is gone, do you guys think I'll be able to run stage 2+ without an upgraded FMIC for the winter months? I already don't push my car when it's warm so I believe it would be fine but any input would be appreciated. I can provide datalogs as well if you guys would like to take a look at it, because I don't think I should be hitting 19PSI off of stage 1+ but I'm not complaining, the thing pulls like a train
Any advice on running stage 2+ without a FMIC? I'd also like to know if you guys think I'm making healthy power, recently I've done a fresh valve cover and gasket as well as fresh boost solenoids.

If you've got logs, go ahead and share the datazap links. Personally, as long as you're logging i wouldn't be afraid to try 2+. The logs will tell the story.
As a side note, I didn't know they brought back the e90 in 2020 😆 |

HA! Fixed that lol. Definitely not opposed to trying stage 2+ for a few pulls and logging that as well I’ll definitely take some logs tonight, any specific parameters that should be monitored?

Recommended to stick to the stage with supporting mods, especially if you want consistency. If you have downpipes, stage 2 is recommended by MHD. You can Datalog and compare stage 1+ vs stage 2. |

Why dont you just run the tune that is optimized for your mods?

Also to be noted that OP is in LA. Meaning "winter" will be 60F during the day, certainly not cold enough to eliminate the need for an FMIC

LOL, I didn't pick up on that. Even still, if he's logging he's going to see the IAT spiking and the timing being pulled soon enough.

IAT and timing correction for each cylinder are the main ones to look at for this issue.

You don't have an upgraded FMIC, but you have Catless downpipes correct?

its all in the MHD faq on their website, and when uses give their two cents here its always overshadowed by people who say they have done this with that or that with this..
If u have a FMIC upgrade then run a more aggresive boost setting and map, do as many stages as your mods allow. simple and easy

it's up to you, if you do some occasonial WOT it will be ok, i passed a winter without FMIC with a Stage 1+ and did not had any problem. i went to 140+ IAT if i did like 3 full pulls in a row... just think to live monitor your IAT temps, don't pass 140+

Datalogged today, IAT's stayed relatively low but i did notice it peak at 158 briefly but that was after a few WOT pulls for datalogging purposes. Typically stayed around 120 for normal driving and would typically approach 140 on the first few pulls.

60 is cold for us here lol, but in the night it gets to a whopping 45 degrees which is when I do the vast majority of my pulls. Any time during the day i stay in D and don't tempt myself

E30 would be great to mix, I've got a few stations near me, but I don't want to hassle with calculating mixes so I'd probably wanna hold off on ethanol until I get a flew fuel system
