help with coding / using ncsexpert ETC...
Hello!
I know it has been covered in the forum I am sure. But does anyone have a good links to any videos/and or forum topics on how to use NCSEXPERT/DUMMY/ INPA etc all those? I just downloaded all the files and followed how to set it all up and purchased a pro k+dcan cable. so my laptop is ready to go but maybe it being late I am having a hard time finding what i need. I am mainly looking to scan my e90 for anything wrong with it. turn off the light warnings for when you put led bulbs in for fogs and headlights. maybe turn off the active headrest due to my car being in a previous accident it always has the restrain system malfunction error on and the airbag/seatbelt light. (i am hoping i can scan the car to see where exactly these errors are coming from). I am a total noob when it comes to this so before i mess with any of this I want to research as much as possible. thank for your time! |

Immediate need is to install new battery so I need to: - Register the new battery - and change battery setting from lead/acid to AGM - and change AH rating I found the great download links from J0K3R5 (Thanks very much!!) ..and installed the EasyBMWTools package consisting of: - Inpa 5.0.6 (with English script files) - EDIABAS 7.3.0 - NCS Expert 4.0.1 (with English menus and buttons, and NCS Dummy Profile) - NCS Dummy 0.6.0.4 - Tool32 4.0.3 - WinKFP 5.3.1 - BMW Coding Tool v2.5.0 (for use as an alternative to NCS Dummy, or to update DATEN files) - Integrated SP-DATEN v53.3 Is this sufficient to do what I need? Am sure I will get into it more as I go, but right now I just need the battery programming stuff. TIA for any guidance! |

ISTA-D, ISTA-P, or both? Thought I might need the ISTA-P for changing the battery settings; yes? Last edited by gdog; 01-12-2021 at 09:46 AM.. |

Ista+ (ista-d)
The easybmw tool I notice is missing a lot of file. I recommended the bimmer Greeks one. And that has everything you need to do it. Ncs expert will allow you to change battery type. Inpa/tool32 will allow you to register battery. |

Thanks all for replies!
I have the K+DCAN cable. Mine does NOT have a switch; shouldn't need that for an E90 (i.e. 2008 MY 328i); correct? Watching utube now where guy insists I need cable with the switch. Think switch is needed for older models? The car is at another location right now, but trying to get my laptop all setup so it's ready to go.. will be going over there later this week. Thanks.
Now trying to install ISTA-D v4.17.41. Following instructions here: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...50&postcount=2 I have INPA and NcsExpert installed and seem to work. But I don't see any Pre-Install folder mentioned in step 2? Getting all downloads from here: https://mega.nz/#F!0l5XkCja!hhmwooDMxmL52IOw8P9ZDg Last edited by gdog; 01-13-2021 at 06:10 PM.. |

OK I'm back with more questions..
ISTA download ongoing so that's on back burner right now. Finally got to battery install today and used NCSexpert successfully to find it's already programmed for 90ah_agm so no need to reprogram it. But unsuccessful in trying to register the new battery; tried both INPA and Tool32 multiple times. Get back error each time. Tool32 error says "ERRROR_ECU_CONDITIONING_NOT_CORRECT_OR_REQUEST_SE QUENCE_ERROR" Similar error IIRC from INPA. This is 2008 328i. Selected MSV80.prg in Tool32 and stuern_battterietausch_registration job. Any ideas? TIA! Do I need to follow Option #5 here? https://www.e90post.com/forums/showp...12&postcount=1 Last edited by gdog; 01-24-2021 at 10:32 AM.. |

ISTA v4.27.22 install crashed after running for multiple hours; normal to take so long? Anyway, got the new battery finally registered using the bimmergeeks version of INPA with this guy's instructions: FYI Now I'd like to see why the ABS light is on (this car has been parked for a couple of years) but will create new thread for that. THANKS ALL!! PS: this post is somewhat helpful too in general to help understanding: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=929966 Last edited by gdog; 01-24-2021 at 03:59 PM.. |
