N55 valve cover leak
so i have 84k miles and its leaking...expected. and a $30 diy job is turning into $700 investment cuz, you know, BMW. i decided to replace the entire valve cover and the Valvetronic Eccentric Shaft Actuator. and of course ill order from FCP but have a question about the VC kit options pulled up on FCP for the N55...one is with "with blow by heater" and the other is "w/o blow by heater". this is only referenced on FCP as i have not seen this on other sites in my research. Im still waiting for a response from FCP but wanted to hear from the community if they have heard and/or have experienced. a quick google search references heating of the PCV valve...and a recall of it.
i am in the north east which one to choose? not sure if this is an option limited to the VC kit or an option that comes on the car. |

Real oem won't really tell you if you need one or the other. The VCs are the same in each item you are looking at on FCP. The difference is that they are kits, so it's the other parts that are different, specifically the vent hoses. Both are options for your car, so you have to figure out which one you have -or- if you just want the VC, just click on that individual part under the "what does this kit include." Alternatively, you can search on FCP just for 11127570292, which is the valve cover alone:

Yeah it looks like the hose in the kit is the difference. FCP replied after I supplied the VIN and said I have the blow by heater. Mystery solved.
